Why Socialists Must Side with Islamic Fundamentalism - The Typical yet Illuminating Case of Jimmy "Class-Uprising" Carter

Author: Peter
Date: Dec 19, 2006 23:43

by Peter Fruchter, December 20, 2006

Jimmy Carter seems like a gentle man. Gentle as a wheeze. But the
response to his recent "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid" book
hasn't been. It's been anything but gentle. It's been outrage.

Some now say he's anti-semitic. Which is unwarranted, and worse -
irrelevant. The issues contested concern Israel - and Islamic
fundamentalism. Not Judaism. Not the Jewish - or Masonic or Templar
or Protestant - conspiracy. Not any more. Since the creation of
Israel, it's what goes on in the Middle-East getting voted most
likely to enflame Armageddon.

Carter is wrong, of course. That's clear the moment we concede
Israel's entitled to defend herself. Right? However defined,
apartheid is offensive - and thereby can't conceivably be practiced
in self-defence.

60 Minutes: CIA Official Reveals Bush, Cheney, Rice Were Personally Told
Iraq Had No WMD in Fall 2002

Tonight on 60 Minutes, Tyler Drumheller, the former chief of the CIA's
Europe division, revealed that in the fall of 2002, President Bush, Vice
President Cheney, then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and others
were told by CIA Director George Tenet that Iraq's foreign minister -- who
agreed to act as a spy for the United States -- had reported that Iraq had
no active weapons of mass destruction program. Watch it:

BRADLEY: According to Drumheller, CIA Director George Tenet delivered the
news about the Iraqi foreign minister at a high level meeting at the White
House.

DRUMHELLER: The President, the Vice President, Dr. Rice.

BRADLEY: And at that meeting.?

DRUMHELLER: They were enthusiastic because they said they were excited
that we had a high-level penetration of Iraqis.

BRADLEY: And what did this high level source tell you?

DRUMHELLER: He told us that they had no active weapons of mass destruction
program.

Slick was damaged goods that sent the economy in resession after getting an
economy on the rise.

Newt will be the new President, just like Bush, over the promotion of the
media prince, John McCain.

Gunlobby Sells Out US Constitution, Why Not Ohio Constitution?

Author: The Lone Weasel
Date: Dec 19, 2006 21:22

12/19/2006

Assault on home rule, local gun laws needs to be resisted in court

Ohio lawmakers recently voted to override Gov. Bob Taft's veto of a
bill wiping out local gun laws. When they did that, they may as well
have declared open season on cities' 94-year-old ''home rule'' right
to govern themselves in accord with local needs and wishes as laid out
in the state constitution.

The conflict goes beyond guns. State lawmakers also have done away
with cities' ability to adopt residency requirements for their
municipal workers, for instance.

Ohio is a large and diverse state, with a significant split
personality. Big-city urban Ohio often can seem like a different
planet in comparison with downstate rural Ohio. In that kind of
environment, one size does not fit all needs.

Lawmakers from rural areas who grew up with guns and hunting in their
culture balk at gun restrictions such as the concealed carry law and
local bans on assault weapons. They don't seem to grasp the resistance
they meet from leaders in big cities, where guns most often spell
accidental shootings as well as crime and mayhem.

Bibles Are Booming: Bible Sales Are Up

Bibles Are Booming

These days the Good Book comes in hundreds of varieties.

BY JOANNE KAUFMAN

Wednesday, December 6, 2006 12:01 a.m. EST

Several weeks ago, Christian book publisher Thomas Nelson Inc. received
a curious submission, "sort of an alarmist Bible," recalled Wayne
Hastings, a senior vice president of the Nashville, Tenn.-based
company. "A lot of it had to do with what recently went on in Israel
and Lebanon."

The offering featured headlines that had been snipped from the front
pages of USA Today, then pasted below select New Testament verses. Also
included was some newspaper boldface about the collapse of the Jessica
Simpson-Nick Lachey marriage accompanied by relevant text from
Scripture, presumably not Genesis' 2:24 dictum: "a man shall leave his
father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife."

#Fisk: the damage done by denying the Holocaust

Author: 2947 Dead
Date: Dec 19, 2006 21:13

Oh how - when it comes to the realities of history - the Muslims of
the Middle East exhaust my patience. After years of explaining to Arab
friends that the Jewish Holocaust - the systematic, planned murder of
six million Jews by the Nazis, is an indisputable fact - I am still
met with a state of willing disbelief.

And now, this week, the preposterous President Mahmoud Ahmadinajad of
Iran opens up his own country to obloquy and shame by holding a
supposedly impartial "conference" on the Jewish Holocaust to repeat
the lies of the racists who, if they did not direct their hatred
towards Jews, would most assuredly turn venomously against those other
Semites, the Arabs of the Middle East.
