We're all aware
>> of the warmer incarnations of Christianity, but they're not the same
>> Christians trying to make political inroads to theologize our secular
>> government, or to revise our history as evidence of some march toward
>> Christian world domination. She was merely exposing the underbelly of
>> this Christian movement, which is doing great harm to Christianity
>> itself by tainting it with this irrational, illogical fanaticism.
>
>
>
> Where did Amanpour state that was her agenda, or is that your
> interpretation? Why didn't she deal with the tax-exempt status
> of these political groups? It looked more like propaganda
> for those groups than a really hard-hitting take on them.

I admit I saw only part of it, but it looked like she was exposing the
darker said of it. Maybe I should have stuck around for the whole
thing, and seen where she was going. I was so pleased seeing it
discussed, it didn't occur to me that she wouldn't go in deep.

>> Who
>> would have ever believed that we'd be debating the Theory of Evolution
>> at this time in history, in the 21st century? But here we are. The
>> report in CNN is just one more challenge to an organization that
>> hasn't been challenged ideologically until just recently. A week or
>> so ago I saw on PBS a documentary about a conflict between
>> fundamentalist Christians and teachers that ended up in a state
>> supreme court (concluding with a Republican-appointed judge ruling in
>> favor of the teachers). Last year, the documentary JESUS CAMP showed
>> these freaks for what they are, without commentary (the menacing
>> religious leader shown toward the end was the same preacher exposed
>> for having a long affair with a male prostitute). Reasonable people
>> are aware of the different brands of Christianity. It's a good thing
>> to be focusing right now on Brand XXX. The word needs spreading.
>
>
> They were all shown up last year when tragedy struck the Amish
> and they showed us what real Christians look like.

I'm unaware of what you're talking about here.

--
_________________
Alric Knebel

http://www.ironeyefortress.com/C-SPAN_loon.html
http://www.ironeyefortress.com
