DETOURS
How wooly heads wisely prevail
By Kimberly Sherman, Globe Correspondent
July 6, 2008
PUTNEY, Vt. -- There are not too many places worth visiting that greet
guests with the smell of livestock. But those who venture into the tiny,
farm-scented retail shop at the Green Mountain Spinnery are rewarded
with the chance to browse racks of colorful patterns, displays of
knitted projects, and buckets of yarns in a gritty working mill with a
story to tell.
The Spinnery is a kind of business not completely uncommon in Vermont: a
worker-owned cooperative that supports regional farms and seeks
environmentally responsible ways to do business -- in this case,
processing natural fibers.

Christianiaâs fate might end up in the courts
By Luna Finnsson
Jul 5, 2008
Culture, Music and the Arts, Denmark, Lifestyle, MBL
a Christiania protest marchLong running efforts to formalise the status
of Copenhagenâs most famous suburb seem to have reached a deadlock. The
hippie enclave that has squatted on a former army base near the city
centre for four decades initially agreed to proposals from city
administrators but with too many conditions attached.
Carsten Jarlov, representing the Palaces and Properties Agency, says his
party has lost patience, pointing out that the state had already spent
â20,000 hours and around 20 million kronerâ on resolving the matter.
âI donât see the point in meeting again,â he told public broadcaster DR.
âNow the courts will have to decide the fate of Christiania.â

ANARCHY for Constitutionalists by Anarchists
The Constitutionalists know that something is very wrong with Western
pseudo-democracies.
But they labor under the delusion that it is possible to "go back to
the Constitution" and leave peacefully under those principles while
Capitalism remains in force.
They're good people, honest and decent. But they are deluded.
This is a request to fellow Anarchists to get the word out to
Constitutionalists about Anarchism.
The powers that be are working furiously to silence Anarchists and
depict Anarchist as violence and chaos.
We have to counter those lies with the truth. There are
Constitutionalists who will listen.
Even Ron Paul has spoken positively about Lysander Spooner and
Benjamin Tucker, although as "Anarcho-Capitalists" they do not
recognize that Capitalism breeds a State necessarily in order to
protect their capital.

G8 Dispatches: Dissent Blooms in Japan Despite Massive Police Represssion
By Marina Sitrin and David Solnit and Asha Colazione and Sarah Lazare,
July 1, 2008
Four simultaneous marches and rallies took place on June 29th in Tokyo
and Sapporo, characterized by vibrant and colorful voices of resistance
and a suffocating police presence. The marches in Tokyo weaved through
the streets, complete with rolling sound systems blasting protest music.
People chanted in various languages, waved flags from around the world,
and joyfully displayed banners and puppets exclaiming what they are
against as well as what they are for.

Controls increased ahead of G8
The protests against the 2008 G8 summit have begun. On Thursday a
demonstration took place in Kyoto against the G8 foreign ministers
meeting. There are three protests camps in Sapporo, the nearest town to
Lake Toya, where the G8 summit will take place from July 7-9.
Alternative media centres in Sapporo and Tokyo have been set up and a
network of critical lawyers is ready to support demonstrators. Events,
conferences and demonstrations are scheduled for the coming week. Many
activists from around the world have travelled to Japan, amongst them
anarchist and trade union groups from other Asian countries.
[Anyone know about these anarchist groups from Asian countries?--DC]

Anarchist group posts private RNC transportation plans on website
Transportation plans for the Republican National Convention are posted
on the website of an anarchist group promising to crash the convention.
The document, which is an early version of the master transportation
plan, was leaked by a website run by a group called the RNC Welcoming
Committee.
The documents outline detailed bus routes and maps that will be used
during the four-day convention. The plan was not meant for the public.
"Does it concern me that information got out that wasn't meant for the
public? Sure it does," said Pete Panos, of the St. Paul Police.
St. Paul Police downplayed the leak, saying the document is already
outdated and is not considered a security breach.

What the Rapture Might Look Like
I think this is a pretty good description of the Disney-Pomo
Production with David de Rothschild starring as the Anti-Christ and
Elizabeth Koo Koo Ka Kucinich co-starring as the Whore of Babylon
Spectacular that they have in store and which they are priming people
for. Brangelina have been cast as the understudies just in case King
David and Queen Elizabeth have a polo game or something scheduled for
(remember this code *wink* *wink*) 12. 21. 2012.

China Inspired Interrogations at GuantĂĄnamo
By SCOTT SHANE
WASHINGTON â The military trainers who came to GuantĂĄnamo Bay in
December 2002 based an entire interrogation class on a chart showing the
effects of âcoercive management techniquesâ for possible use on
prisoners, including âsleep deprivation,â âprolonged constraint,â and
âexposure.â
What the trainers did not say, and may not have known, was that their
chart had been copied verbatim from a 1957 Air Force study of Chinese
Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions,
many of them false, from American prisoners.
The recycled chart is the latest and most vivid evidence of the way
Communist interrogation methods that the United States long described as
torture became the basis for interrogations both by the military at the
base at GuantĂĄnamo Bay, Cuba, and by the Central Intelligence Agency.

July 5: Global Day of Action Against Starbucks
Tuesday, July 01 2008 @ 01:24 PM CDT
Global Day of Action Against Starbucks
In the name of the Union of Commerce of CNT Seville (Spain) I am
inviting base unions and anarchist groups to help us to organize a
GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST STARBUCKS, the coffee shop multinational.
CNT Seville and the Starbucks Workers Union in Gran Rapids, Michigan
(USA) have called for protests against Starbucks for the 5th of JULY 08
all over the world. Union organizers of both unions, Mónica and
Cole, have recently been fired because of their union activity. We
cannot allow multinationals to practice union busting.
