Refused - Return to Sender

Hi all.

It was my understanding that if one doesn't want to accept a given
piece of mail, one should write on it, "Refused. Return to Sender." I
do this with unwanted credit card applications. (I also mark over the
barcode at the bottom of the envelope with a sharpie.)

The trouble is, this only works about 50%% of the time. The other 50%%
of the time I just get the letter back in my box. Is there something
else that I need to be doing?

Mick

I haven't received one in a while, but aren't some of them NOT
first-class mail? If so, if it is standard mail, it is not returnable.
It becomes waste, thrown away by the PO, if they take it back from you.
In that case, it's safer and saner for you to discard (shred) it.

I have the answer.
Write "DECEASED" on it.
Works like a charm.
