ALERT: Ebay's Policy - U.S. Postal Money Orders and Checks

First of all, I am a big supporter of the U.S. Postal service
great service, hard working clerks and almost never any delivery
problems. Ebay's tentative policy, effective October 1, 2008 calls for
Paypal only, that is no money order (postal or store), checks including
(bank or credit union issued cashiers checks), or other types of online
payments (BidPay), nor cash (registered mail). However, what ebay is not
informing sellers and read this very carefully, "IT IS UP TO THE
DISCRETION OF THE SELLER to accept money orders, checks, cash or various
other payment forms that have worked for both the seller or the buyer."

Some sellers are being swindled by putting in their listings the
disclaimer "effective October 1, 2008 ebay calls for Paypal only" this
is not true nor binding. The seller cannot explicitly state in their
listings that they "accept money orders, checks and cash." However the
seller can state something to the effect of "I will accept other forms
of payment at my discretion", or "please email me first for payment
terms","alternative payments will be considered" and so forth.
The point even though ebay allows seller discretion -- don't be dupped
into signing up for a Paypal account. Why?
