I like the look of that! I hate thick slices of roast anything and The
Carver really labours to get it as thin as I prefer using an electric
carving knife! Would you say this is better than said knife?

While perusing the seed catalogues and my own little collection of
seeds, I decided on a Mediterranean look for my summer bedding.
With that in mind and a glorious picture from "My Handy Book on Garden
Design" before me. I planned my Spring planting. I now have before me
pots of scarlet geraniums, (yes they came true) scarlet petunias and
verbena and a really vibrant red Busy Lizzie.(Impatiens)
A few pots of Bacopa and several trays of Lobelia.
Last week during an unseasonal heat wave, with temperatures of 25ºC I
started my planting out. I have filled containers and boxes, baskets and
buckets with colour.........
.........and would you believe the weather has changed to a much more
common wet, windy and cold May. The temperature is a whole 10º below
that of a few days ago. That scarlet presentation, is looking sadly out
of place.
I should have stuck to the white and pale green that I had last year.
Bobbie.:-) well you have to don't you?

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly
dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of
pounds for some food.
I got out my purse and took a ten pound note out and asked, 'If I give
you this money, will you buy wine with it instead of food?'
'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me.
'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.
'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to
spend all my time trying to stay alive.'
'Will you spend this in a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.
'Are you NUTS !' replied the homeless woman. ' I
haven't had my hair done in 20 years!'
'Well,' I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money.
Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my
husband and me tonight.'
The homeless woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband
be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty,
and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'
