That is terrible! The heat must be unbearable, especially for the
firefighters. I hope that if the fires can't be put out soon that at least
they move out away from dwellings.

  Fires are Raging in Victoria..Oz

Warren has requested a new thread .....

A page from the Melbourne newspaper 'The Age'......

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/a-state-of-emergency/2006/12/08/1165081153105...#contentSwap2

Now the famous Australian Poem by Dorothea Mackellar ....

Dorothea Mackellar was an English girl who migrated from England as a
child....

How true could her poem be about the Droughts and Fire Floods and Famine (to
the Animals)...

'My Country'....

The love of field and coppice,
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins;
Strong love of grey-blue distance
Brown streams and soft dim skies -
I know but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.

That most have been a long time ago. When we lived there (1972-1980)
there was 55,000 people there. I not sure all of them were living
there, but we sure loved it except for the last winter.

It's a sad situation - a mate of mine in Morgan has been telling me
about the drought over the last year - bloody awful
