Several years back I passed on a new copy of Lightening Force that had
been marked down to $10. Not as collectible as Snatcher, of course, but
at that price I'm not sure what else would have convinced me to get it.
It seems like in the "good old days" there used to be a lot more video
game clearance sales around. I'm not talking about markdowns in places
like EB, either. There used to be one-weekend-only warehouse clearouts
every now and then where there'd be bins full of Sega CD, Genesis and
even Saturn games slashed to clear (and not just crap games either).
Publishers seem to have gotten better at predicting supply and demand
these days, so you don't get piles of excess inventory sitting around
anymore...
