Actually, I think this is just another complaint by Ray about
something, in this case that he is not the cheese the rats want and,
by implication, not the big cheese he wants to be. According to the
theory of relativity where movement is involved, what is observed
depends on the perspective of the viewer. From Ray's perspective,
women are social climbers. From all possible perspectives in our
reality, our observations show that it is really just women moving
away from him in all possible directions. However, as a matter of
analogy, we can understand that any movement away from Ray is in some
reference to climbing in the sense of moving up. Just getting further
away from him to any degree is an improvement socially. This includes
simply getting out of his apartment. This is intuitively
understandable and implies that even Ray achieves a higher status by
getting out of his apartment.
