Day 7: Court is now in session.

So far we’ve seen that:
1) Mr. Vizzini’s and UnKaH’s views are indistinguishable from one
another.
2) Mr. Vizzini has a long history of posting to forums from different
accounts.
3) There is evidence that UnKaH is a created persona.
4) UnKaH fits the role of Mr. Hyde.
5) Mr. Vizzini fits the role of Dr. Jekyll.
6) Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH do not interact like two different people.

Today: Do Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH post like two different people?

Yesterday I made the following claim: “Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH
are each a face on a two-headed coin.” This metaphor is going to be
useful today.

On one hand a two-headed coin can only show one face at any given
time. One, but not the other. Then the other, but not the first.
Never both at the same time. And if the coin is taken away, both are
gone.

On the other hand two people who are independent and unrelated would
be expected to behave in a more random and uncorrelated manner.

So today we examine the posting habits of Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH. What
do you think we will find? Will the coin metaphor fit or not?

Frequent readers of these posts already know the answer to this, as
there have often been claims that Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH play tag-team
with the groups.

It is typical to see Mr. Vizzini first in a thread, often engaging in
some debate, soon devolving into abusive language, and then the coin
flips from one character to the next. UnKaH comes quickly, spewing
his bile everywhere, setting the scene for the coin to flip back
again. And so it goes.

The examples of this are too numerous to cite. The jury is encouraged
to pick a thread, and see for themselves. You won’t always find the
tag-team, as it usually depends on how rough a ride Mr. Vizzini is
getting.

But what you certainly do not see is Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH firing
posts into a thread at the same time. No doubt in the not so distant
future this is exactly what will be demonstrated for our benefit. But
do not let pre-planned demos sway you. Look to their history for the
truth.

And what exactly is that truth? Is it possible that UnKaH is a long-
term houseguest, and must fight Mr. Vizzini for the right to use the
only computer? At least that would explain the on-again off-again
behavior that they both exhibit, seldom if ever overlapping.

Here’s a prime example:
Dateline: Mar.6th of this year
Thread: Just a thought Tom...
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.psychology.nlp/browse_thread/thread/d16467e20...
L_Ron_Puppetmaster notices:

“I was browsing the ng's and noticed that on Wednesday (Mar.5) posted
33 times from 5:24 am till 5:38 pm. ALL DAY... :-/
Jeeze Tom isn't your time more valuable than that??? :-/ ”

Mr. Vizzini did go on a multi-post rampage that lasted all day. Check
his profile for the posts on this date.
Mr. Vizzini:
http://groups.google.com/groups/profile?enc_user=xTjamxgAAADaMAej70hFrMXj334M46_85Uh...

This is a little out of character, as Mr. Vizzini’s 2008 daily average
is less than 3 posts per day. On this day we see 23 posts over 6 hours
in the morning, followed by 11 posts later in the evening.

UnKaH fires his own volley of posts on Mar.5th. two in the afternoon
and another dozen later that night. This is more in keeping with
UnKaH’s 10+ daily posting average for this year.
UnKaH:

So if Mr. Vizzini posts 34 posts and UnKaH posts 14 posts all on the
same day, what kind of overlap would you expect to see? The reality
is that they don’t come within 2 hours of one another, even though Mr.
Vizzini offers up a target that spans 6+ hours.

Most curious that they are unable to bump into one another. And once
again, this is a pattern that repeats over and over.

---
Let us change gears and take a bit of a broader view. Consider their
posting stats for 2007.
Mr. Vizzini: see above link
UnKaH: see above link

Both Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH each had their highest posting months in
May, with almost 3x their respective monthly averages. Is there
nothing else to do in Georgia in May?

A similar thing happened the previous year in 2006, with their highest
number of posts coming in the same month, only this time October.
Coincidence? Or are we seeing the same coin, flipping, flipping.

---
And it seems when one takes a break, both quiet down. They show
similar monthly lows for 2007, posting only single-digit counts in the
month of September. What would explain that? Were they vacationing
together down at the lake?

Oct/07 shows another single-digit low for UnKaH while Mr. Vizzini
shows some activity. But who needs an UnKaH when you’re in the mood
to take care of business by yourself? Sample:

Mr. Vizzini: “Why would I want rapport with a fucktard? Bottom line
is that you just want something to complain about. Since you are a
fucktard, you can't really come up with much. So you whine….”

Flashback to May, June and July of 2005.
Mr. Vizzini: see above link
UnKah:
http://groups.google.com/groups/profile?enc_user=odF0TyAAAACKGxmYW9fpRz_YCJYl8vk...

Mr. Vizzini made 4 and 11 posts for May and June respectively and 29
separate posts for July (cross-posting bumps the July count to 84),
with the majority of the July posts coming in the last week of the
month.

Total number of UnKaH posts for that same period? Zero, zero, and
zero. Ahh, such sweet relief. But what could explain this
simultaneous Summer slow-down? Were they inspired to try their hand
at herding sheep after catching a preview of Brokeback Mountain? Were
they cycling through California wine country? Were they sharing a
beach-house up on Fire Island?

I think not. No, what we are seeing here is a statistically
significant correlations between Mr. Vizzini and UnKah. Of course
this does not happen every month, but this kind of correlation will
make you a fortune in the stock market.

We started today with this question: Are the posting habits of Mr.
Vizzini and UnKaH random and uncorrelated, or does the two-headed coin
metaphor hold up?

Let the record show that:
7) Mr. Vizzini and UnKaH do not post like two different people.

Tomorrow: The Origin of the Species

Court is adjourned.
