The thing is, according to the allegations, he wasn't romantic about
it (I know it sounds funny, but we're talking about the ladies' POV
here, after all)...he was just doing the frat-boy thing instead of
being some Romeo...there's a difference between "fondling" and
"grabbing"....

At least he's not a homo. He has four kids. Look at Mike Mentzer, Chris
Dickerson and many others who have zero kids and no families and nothing
much to show for their lives.

Well, I really don't know about this "something to show for"
mentality...if someone is happy, that's all it is...please read
Hermann Hesse's essay "On Trees"....
Okay, so Arnie's no homo -- though you never know, he sounds like the
type who was "experimenting" all kinds of shit during that most
experimental of decades, the '70s -- but you know, your kids only have
half your genes, anyway, and their kids, only one-half (right?), and
in a few generations, "your" genes are all diluted anyway (which genes
were a dilution in themselves of your parents and their parents,
etc.)...so you know, possessions, leaving one's mark...I question that
now, more and more...it's like money: only valuable if people agree
that it is.

"Prisoner at War" <> Again, check out Hesse's "On Trees." A really
beautiful essay, not even Whitman or Emerson could have thought it, I
think.>
The only thing I ever read by Hesse was Siddhartha and I thought it was way
over-rated. Hesse was a pencil-pushing fag and he can talk shit but he did
leave a legacy and if he believed otherwise then he should have signed his
works ANONYMOUS as many others have done.

Mentzer was a drugged out weirdo.

I thought Demian was interesting in college.

?
You should try "On Trees." It's not long, and in essay form (though
fairly poetic). Sometimes the deepest thinkers (real intellectuals)
do not make the best entertainers (storytellers and the like).

Hesse is the kind of writer that gets thrown at teenagers when they are
hitting drugs, alcohol, etc. (college) and he makes an impression. I liked
Siddhartha, but the second time I tried to read it I went HO-HUM and put it
down.
For all of Hesse's Eastern Philosophy, he made sure to put his name on every
book and to milk his fame for everything it was worth. Hesse was part of the
Dalai Lama faction of Eastern Philosophy celebrities who preach austerity,
etc., but are checking the interest on their CD accounts and buying new
limousines every year.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooo sorry I spent ~$60 on Mentzer DVDs from
bodybuilding.com...what a fuckin' rip-off...bad quality, etc., etc. --
but worst of all, the guy's a loon, at least in his later years, which
is what these videos feature despite showcasing him in peak form on
the covers!! There's even a shot in the behind-the-scenes "extra"
that shows the producer urging Mike to stop smoking and get back to
filming the workout!!!
He and his brother were two very strange old men. You'd have expect
them to have a secret basement dungeon....
