It's sad to see that the deterioration of Gordon's damaged mental
functioning has resulted in a simple capacity for repetition and
little else. It's like watching the ripples in a pond fade away. The
waves get further apart and smaller until all the energy is gone. The
way he is becoming, I'm reminded of the scene in '2001: A Space
Odyssey' when the HAL 9000 is having it's circuits pulled. It died
away, bit by bit, until nothing was left but the basic functions.
Will that be Gordon's fate? Fading away until nothing is left but a
piece of meat maintaining homeostasis and not much else; an object
with no value, not even suitable for organ harvesting?
If that is going to be his fate, it somehow seems sad, but also
fitting.
