From what I've experienced, they're not all equally effective and some
forms have trouble handling dirty street fighters, but I knew a little
dude in HS who took judo and he was surprisingly effective at
consistently beating much larger, stronger opponents. There seemed to
be a majority of moves that utilized the opponent's inertia against
himself.

Krav maga is probably the most efficient martial art if you want to
learn something useful in the least amount of time.
