Further to what Alex and a few others have already commented, you are
making a faulty assumption from the very beginning. You are assuming
that the newsloon is simply a regular guy with a chip on his shoulder
or a bit of a mean streak. But this is completely incorrect. He is
in no respects a regular guy. He is a man with a chronic and severe
mental illness. Going out and sarging with him and treating him like
a peer would not make him feel better or mend the situation. It would
make him feel far worse. Because of his particular mental illness,
the last thing he wants is to feel like your peer. He finds that
insulting, belittling, embarassing, and humiliating. He desires the
kind of attention that comes with being put on a pedastal, being held
in great regard and highly respected. As with most with his particular
illness, they cannot obtain this kind of attention based on merit, so
they invariably act out, provoke others, and receive attention for their
outlandish behavior instead. Even if they have to act out to get attention,
it's fine with them. This is why there is no hope when they are on
unmoderated forums. Because they lack merit, they will continually
act out and disrupt communications in order to remain a focus
of attention.
