If choosing to pay $425.00 a month for a one-bedroom that was a five-minute
trolley ride from center city as opposed to over $2,500.00 a month to keep
my old apartment is "not making it," all at the age of nineteen, well, I
guess most Americans are milionaires.

I actually took my mom in when I came here, not the other way around. New
York City is the overpriced shithole, and why many natives leave the first
chance they get.

I didn't choose anything. I was growing up in this lovely skyscraper that
had a reasonable rent when my family moved into in 1971. It was like
$550.00 a month, with two bedrooms (now it would be considered a three
bedroom due to the dining room back then being its own room).
