Gas prices

What is everyone doing about the rising gas prices with service trucks on
the road. Raising service call charges? Adding trip charges? Fuel charge?
What is working best for residential/commercial? Is there a difference?

Each has his own solution:
1. Jiminex rows his "yacht" across the Arthur Kill.
2. Rojas catches a ride with the nearest US marshal.
3. Tom has women carry hime around.
4. Leuck rides his recumbent more.
5. Cracker stays home with a hangover.
6. Olson flies his car inverted (the car that is, not him).
7. My commute is only about 150 feet.

raised service rates a little across the board, so no client takes a big hit
like they would if you charged a separate trip charge.
doesn't apply to clients that are really far way though...those I do charge
extra

Sounds like something Tom would come up with.

Must be getting tighter. Any mention of charges touches off a fire storm.
Never seen it like this in my 20 some years down here. I have had increases
before with little to no problems. Now is different. Everyone is starting to
feeling the crunch. It is mostly on the residential side.

business was really slow from dec to march...it's usually slow jan/feb to
not like this year...shit I was doing mostly annual inspects and small
service shit.
then all heck broke loose the beginning of april...all big
residentials...nice.
so if it keeps up upping I'll be happy.

DIY sales are the exact opposite -- up better than 80%% over first quarter
2007. The last three weeks we've seen an even greater increase. I'm about to
start looking for more office staff again.

Part of the reason we're getting so much more business is that people are
looking for ways to cut expenses. Installing their own alarms saves them 50%%
to 90%% of the initial investment. With central stations offering to monitor
residential panels for $8 - $12 a month customers can save up to 80%% of the
recurring cost.

Another important area for us has been the government / military market. I
don't know what others are getting but we're seeing tremendous growth there.
We now get orders all the time from various bases here and overseas. Even
large, international corporations routinely shop online these days.

I just raised my hourly service rate a little bit for now. I'll have to
riase the rates on service contracts next year too, but I figured I'ld hold
off on that for a year and let everybody have a chance to compensate for the
higher price of everything since fuel companies are hi-jacking everybody
else.

Yeah, I'm heating up too. Hope it lasts a while.

Wasn't Hime the robot from the old Get Smart series?

Now, why would having women carry hime around save gas?
