Currently the umpc with flash memory enough for a few map programs are
pretty rugged. I am not exactly an outdoor person and I got the hd
type with 120 G .

Do you think in a yr's time there will be devices that suits your
need? And cheap enough too?

There are rugged pda/gps but they are still in $1,500 range. Well
Garmin 2610/2620 were in that price range too back then in 04 I
believe

Things are moving in breakneck pace

On every intersection or just 1?

The directions are only as good as the underlying data. My 255w gives
me the same "misleading" information at 1 particular intersection as
my old Telatlas based Destinator PDA.
