I just finished this book (for the second or third time) and found it
profoundly interesting.

Dasein (the existence we all experience as self aware human beings) makes a
transition from awe and exploration (childhood), through angst, and selfish
questions of mortality (middle age) and finally into care for the world.

The book was quite concurrent with a lot of ideas of the era. It reminded
me of Freud and Jung (psychoanalysis) on one hand, and Levi-Strauss
(anthropology) on the other. It was existentialism without the preachiness
of Kierkegaard and theology without the theos. The work denies the
importance of God entirely, and sets our own mortal existence apart as the
only meaningful subject of the narrative.

I wonder if Anton LaVey read it...

Satan has no love or desire to be compassionate to those of you who
