I'm not an expert director, nor do I have any experience with working
in film. However the thing that really irked my suspension of
disbelief were scenes like demonstrating the girl with the perfect
memory. The scene would cut to an audience member and the audio would
change drastically from a background crowd to suddenly silenced and
clear voice. It strikes me even in the age of analog this could have
been edited better... or dubbed.

It's possible that the sound track wasn't fully edited. Seems like
they were still working on the "Foley" stuff (background sound mixing)
when it was shown in Clearwater.
I thought some of the scenes dragged out too long, and some of the
acting was either amateurish or hampered by klutzy scriptwriting. My
general impression is that Peter was overconfident of his own
abilities, and should have sought some outside help on the script,
direction and editing.

What bothers me most is that fat people are sitting in front of their
computers criticising Peter Alexander and Patricia Greenaway and the
rest of the brave people involved in making this movie.
If you don't like 'The Profit' can I suggest you get off you fat
a*se's and go out and secure funding and then write and produce a
movie about every ones favourite cult - in the middle of Clearwater!
When you have done this and you're finished product is superior to
'The Profit', then come back on a.r.s. and pose the above question.
In my opinion Alexander, Greenaway, the rest of the cast and crew, and
Minton are heroes for what they attempted to do.

Amen, brother. They didn't just attempt, they did it. The cult's
suppression of the film won't last. And as we see, the cult won't last.

I didn't say they all weren't heroes. I said the result of what they
produced semi-sucks for various reasons. Perhaps one is that they
attempted to do it in Clearwater where they were bound to get harassed
and distracted. Duh!
