I don't understand your laws in this matter. In fact, I don't
understand American laws in this matter. I feel no shame pleading
ignorance. Religion at least in the states is something that simply
is not defined legally.
http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?activeTextDocId=2320532
However Time magazine in 1991 (may IIRC) had an issue titled "The
Thriving Cult of Greed and Power".
According to the officer here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1LIAQoIJtY
I believe he was trying to explain it's ok to disseminate facts, not
opinion, It's ok to quote someone, not not your self. Other Officers
seemed address this concern as well, as long as you back it up with
facts, it's protected free speech.
While I am angry, I am empathetic to the officers involved who want to
protect the rights of those involved. They don't want a large
majority to judge the practices of a minority as being strange and
permitting the public to generate social stigma.
But the fact of the matter is... judges have labeled the cult
"schizophrenic and paranoid" and "corrupt, sinister and dangerous."

BRILLIANT POINT!
While Anonymous isn't a religious group... labeling them as a
terrorist organization 'could be' a form of hate speech. I wonder of
there are any legal remedies to this.

Scientology fought that all the way to the US Supreme Court, which turned
them down ten years later.
