From my own long experiences with Scientology and of having publicly
departed Scientology (partly documented at www.lermanet.com/michaelpattinson)
I have come to realize a lot of basic anomalies about the L.Ron
Hubbard cult, that members and celebrities would never realize
existed.
Here is one.
In my honest opinion, the critics of Scientology, who have the courage
to not just "lurk" on the internet, but to speak out are a very
special group of courageous people. Apart from a few (maybe a dozen?)
loony-tunes internet activists who either pretend to be critics to try
to downgrade the quality of postings by critics, or those who are
insanely "kooky" (which becomes clear when you get to see their rants
and blindly irrational confrontational-ism) the main group of ex-
members and informed anti-cult activists are a valuable social asset.

IN THEORY:
Cant forget to forgive
The Burbank Leader
4.1.2008
Michael McCullough, a psychologist at the University of Miami and author
of an upcoming book on forgiveness, suggests that human beings may be
hard-wired to forgive that there could be certain brain activity that
biologically connects to the ability to forgive, and that ability could
be in our DNA. Ultimately, his work suggests that the act of forgiveness
may not be totally unselfish, and that it predates organized religion.
What do you think? Is forgiveness something we learn, or could we be
built to forgive?
(...)
Can you imagine a world without forgiveness?
In this fictional place there would be no mistakes or errors, no wrongs
to forgive or only blame and condemnation.

Live Discussion: Chat with producer Marcela Gaviria, Jan. 9, 11am ET
This summer, FRONTLINE producer Marcela Gaviria set out to answer a
question that has been troubling parents, doctors, and government
regulators: Why are millions of American children being prescribed
increasingly powerful, behavior-modifying drugs that have not been
adequately
tested in kids?

From either a totally non-philosophical, non-religious / atheistic
point of view, or most definitely from a philosophical / religious
viewpoint, what are currently your biggest 2 or 3 regrets in life
(whatever your definition of that is) so far and please elaborate on
the reason/s why.

Robert Trumbull Crowley, former Deputy Director van de Central
Intelligence Agency`s Clandestine Operations Division, died in
Oktober 2000. Before he died, he was with the CIA from 1948, he gave
important parts of his own archive to journalists. Included was a list
of 2619 persons, known as "sources" for the CIA. A "source" is a
person, not paid by the CIA, but voluntarily providing the CIA with
information. Many "sources" are former members of the intelligence
community.
The list can be found here:

Now, guess who's name is under "M"?
Miscavige, David 6331 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028,
chairman of the Religious Technology Centre (RTC)
and current leader of the Church of Scientology.
Under "J" we find:
Jentsch, Heber 6331 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028,
President of the Church of Scientology International

This is an event that I personally experienced as a member of the
Church of Scientology, and student at the Advanced Organization of Los
Angeles (AOLA) in the late 1990's.
I had a female friend whose father was an OT 5, Class 9 Case
Supervisor at AOLA. With both of her parents in the Sea Organization,
my friend had grown up in a Scientology-controlled environment from
the time she was born.
One day, my friend told me in detail, how her father had sex with her
from the time she was 5 until the time she was 14. She was in her
early 20's at the time she told me this, and had recently had a baby
with her new husband. Her memories from these incidents with her
father were beginning to re-emerge and effect her horribly as she
tried to deal with the new baby boy, her husband, and her new
responsibilities as a mother.

I wonder why the church doesn't promote ALL of Hubbards advanced
abilities.
Such as giving to his second wife aphrodisiacs, without her knowing
(she on finding out wanted a divorce);
Tried to start a war with Mexico with his US Navy gunboat;
His photographic abilities...
