I cannot imagine a couple of generals arranging a battle like the
arraingement made in Mormon 6. It seems that there had been a great battle
in which a large part of the Nephites had been killed. Mormon had realized
beforehand that the Nephites were finished. He had previously vowed not to
try to lead them in battle again, but before this battle that had just
finished he had agreed to lead them again. Now they had fled in defeat, but
he wrote a letter to the leader of the Lamonites. The way I read the
beginning of Mormon 6, General Moroni writes saying, "We have been defeated.
We have no desire to run before you and we will not surrender to you. Now I
request that you give me time to call all my people together at this place I
have selected, and after we have prepared we will meet...

Nick sort of indicated that it would be better to discuss chapter 6
rather than or at least before chapter 7. He is right in a way. If one
were to start to read here without knowing what had gone before...

It is a pity, that Woody did not choose for Mormon 6, where the final
battle with the Lamanite is fought out in 385 AC and the Nephites and
the Nephite nation Zarahemla and the judge/king/general Mormon were
wiped out.
In the real history in Russia in the Crimea (later Chazaria, possible
Zarahemla) around that time in 385ACE raged the horrible Hun battle,
where the immense European Ostrogothic empire of king Ermanarich
(Yormon-rkkr was wiped out, the 110 years old. king and people
inclusive.
Now in this chapter 7 it is suggested that Mormon tried to baptise the
Lamanates or in my decoding of the BoM,
Ostrogothic king Ermanarich tried to baptise Attila the Hun.

Quite possibly the two most significant verses in the whole book, in
a very important way.

We have a couple of men's clothing chains here in SLC, one mainly
Utah-based (Mr. Mac), and one regional or national (Men's Wearhouse),
both of which advertise missionary clothing packages.
Is that also discrimination? I think that if, say, a Baptist went in
and wanted to buy the package for his Baptist mission, they (a) would
gladly sell it to him and (b) would be discriminating if they didn't.

If there were such verses that I was aware of, and if I thought it was
important, I would do so. But neither the Bible nor the Book of Mormon
contain everything that God has revealed. If they did, there would be no
need for the vast libraries in the world.
We had not been discussion baptism by proxy prior to this, had we?

I once heard a returning astronaut debunk the notion that the moon is
made of green cheese. He asserted emphatically that it is made of
American cheese.
But unlike you, Nick, he had a sense of humor.
