Hillary Clinton didn't attend the race, but she ordered her daughter to bet
the filly. Eight Belles, who went off at 13-1, repaid the fans' faith by
returning $10.60 and $6.40.Winning jockey Kent Desormeaux and Big Brown
galloped by Eight Belles in her waning moment.

  Your tax dollars at work!

Author: Lansdellicious Chris Lansdell

Providing you pay taxes to Canuckistan.

I have applied for a promotion. Pretty standard stuff, they first
administer a writing skills test to make sure I do not besmirch Her
Majesty in right of Canada by sending out a letter saying "Oh hai I can
has taxz? KTHX". What has followed, though, is bureaucratic nonsense at
its finest.

Part A) Despite evidence proving its existence in the course of your 13
months with the government, we shall be assessing your competency in the
area of Client Service Orientation. To do so we will schedule a
20-minute questionnaire, consisting of seven (7) multiple choice
questions, at 10:30 on a Saturday morning. Answer them according to your
past experiences, do not pick what you think is the best answer, or we
will sic Jake the Snake Roberts on you.

Wonderful. An hour to commute on teh bus, a 20 minute test (which I
finished in 8 minutes...), and then an hour back again. Plus a 15 minute
wait for the bus to come after finishing the test. Everyone, of course,
just picked the best answers. Oh but there is more!

  The Scoop on Wiblur!

Author: Darla Vladschyk
Date: May 3, 2008 08:11

I spoke with both missus Wiblur and the man himself today, and got all
updated on what's been going on. Turns out that some people have a
virus called CMV circulating around in their blood, minding its own
business. Well then suppose you have a kidney transplant and you're
taking anti-rejection drugs that suppress your immune system?

OOOOPS!

The CMV suddely gets all full of itself and stuff, and makes you
majorly sick--- like back-in-the-hospital sick. And THEN they
discover that your strain of CMV is antibiotic resistant! The
trifecta of bad luck!

Anyway, he's been very sick and in and out of the hospital, and now
that they have figured out what's wrong, they have embarked on a new
treatment protocol and he's starting to feel a bit better. He can't
sit up for very long, however, which is why he hasn't been posting or
answering email or doing his podcasts or maintaining his web site.

But he WILL be back and he IS going to be fine, and I am now
officially the Auntie-Death Ray!!!

CytoMegaloVirus. No, it's not a miniature giant ro-bot strain.

  Chik-Fil-A: Made of fail

Author: Lots42
Date: May 3, 2008 01:52

The current marquee ad campaign for Chik-Fil-A indicates one should
have a smooth, creamy milkshake instead of a juicy steak.

Yes, that's just the correlation of thoughts you want; melty ice cream
and chunks of meat. Ew. No thanks. Now I want neither. Is Chik-Fil-A
really thinking this through at all?
