Let Kashmiris decide
Sir: This refers to Shakir Lakhani's letter "No achievements in Kashmir"
(Daily Times, August 15). Mr Shakir is averse to the survey report showing
that the masses of Jammu wished to be independent. For my friends'
knowledge, we should not be speaking on their behalf or force them to cede
to Pakistan. Our ultimate demand should be to let them have the right of
governance as they wish. It would be considered selfish, internationally and
morally, if we desire a reward for our favour. Also, good relations with
India will be in Pakistan's interest and may transform the economy and
conditions of our country.
