Father Paul Marx is a founder of Human Life International. When HLI
had a conference in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1994, Archbishop Harry
Flynn refused to permit him to celebrate mass in St. Paul's Cathedral
because of his racist and anti-semitic views. Marx is a Benedictine
monk, but he is shunned by his own order, and indeed by most of North
America's Catholic heirarchy.

In an interview which appeared in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune in
1975, Marx said:

"the white Western world is committing suicide...I guess we
have 250,000 Vietnamese here already [Minneapolis/St.Paul
is home to the largest Vietnamese population in the U.S.],
and they are going to have large families; the Orientals
always do. God knows how many Mexicans cross the border
every night... And if we ever have to fight the Russians,
I wonder if these people will be willing to stake their
lives."

Father Marx has never disavowed those words, and HLI has never
disavowed Father Marx. Most people would agree that Marx's beliefs
and statements are not representative of mainstream Catholic thought.
At the same time, Marx and HLI have the full blessings of the Vatican
despite their racist and anti-semitic views.
