  Fires, Floods, And Fuel

Author: Carl

In the following sermon Don Baggett uses current events as sort of an
analogy to teach that God will provide even through bad situations and
circumstances because of His love for us. It is an encouraging sermon in
these times of fires, floods and the high cost of fuel.

May God bless,

Watch Out For Those Who Lead You Away From The Truth

Author: Carl

John Piper's sermon presented below is an exhortation and warning to
Christians about those who teach falsely and try to deceive with unBiblical
doctrine. There are plenty of those individuals out there. Many are
cultists. Some are simply heretics. However all try to lead Christians away
from the truth.

Why Are We Saved By Faith?
by C.H. Spurgeon

Why is faith selected as the channel of salvation? No doubt this inquiry is
often made. "By grace are ye saved through faith," is assuredly the doctrine
of Holy Scripture, and the ordinance of God; but why is it so? Why is faith
selected rather than hope, or love, or patience?

In the following sermon, Amzi Dixon preaches about the need for revival in
his day. It is interesting to note that what he preached about then is so
applicable today. Revival is indeed needed today.

The Revival We Need

"My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word."-Ps.

"I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word."-Ps.
119:107.
"Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word."-Ps.

These Scriptures give us the definition of a true revival, the dire need of
such a revival, and a simple description of how to get it.

The Story of Prophet Job

From: The Stories of the Prophets
By: Al Imam Ibn Kathir
[(701 - 774 AH) or (1301 - 1372 AD)]

Ibn Ishaaq stated that he was a man of Rum. His names was Job Ibn Mose
Ibn
Razeh Ibn Esau Ibn Isaac Ibn Abraham. Someone else said he was Job Ibn
Mose,
Ibn Rimil Ibn Esau Ibn Isaac Ibn Jacob. There have also been other
statements in his lineage. Ibn Asaker narrated that his mother was a
daughter of Prophet Lot.It was said, also, that his father was one who
believed in Abraham when he was cast into the fire.

The first opinion is the most plausable as he was a descendant of
Abrahams
offspring as Allah Almighty declared:

Congratulations! to those readers who have resolutely continued with the
Daily Reading for the last six months. For they have now read half the Old
Testament, and ALL of the New.
May God bless your continued effort and dedication.

Bible Readings for Today
1 Samuel 23
Isaiah. 66
Matthew 11
For those who want to go directly to the source of this study guide,
it can be found at http://www.antipas.org/readings/readings.html

It takes normally between 20-30 mins per day depending on one's reading
speed.
It will be found many unanswered questions which may have seemed puzzling
and "Hard to be understood" are slowly and precisely answered as the Bible
is methodically read through day after day.

Here is a helpful link for anyone who either does not have a Bible to
hand, or might prefer reading from their computer, or might want to compare
different translations, or even read non-English versions:

Old Time Religion
by Billy Sunday

INTRODUCTION

Modern to the last minute Sunday's methods may be, but his message is
unmistakably the "Old-time religion." He believes his beliefs without a ques
tion. There is no twilight zone in his intellectual processes; no mental
reservation in his preaching. He is sure that man is lost without Christ,
and that only by the acceptance of the Saviour can fallen hunanity find
salvation. He is as sure of hell as of heaven, and for all modernized
varieties of religion he has only vials of scorn.

This sermon from Charles Spurgeon focuses on Jesus' parable of the sower
from the book of Luke. The lessons within this parable is just as valid and
valuable today as it was when Jesus initially told it. I hope this brings
some edification for you.
