Israel to ban fishing in the Sea of Galilee
By GRANT SLATER, Associated Press Writer - Thu May 13, 3:40 pm ET
JERUSALEM - The Israeli government is echoing the words of
Jesus with a new ban - asking the fishermen of the Sea of
Galilee to cast aside their nets.
Jesus appealed to the fishermen to drop their work and
follow him. The Israelis, however, have a more mundane
reason - officials say a decade of overfishing has left the
aquatic population of the biblical body of water in danger.
The fishing ban will be in effect for two years, but even
afterward, no one is expecting modern times to follow
biblical history, when Jesus directed fishermen to a spot
where a "multitude of fish" nearly sank their boats.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Cabinet approved
the ban last month. Oz Goffman of the Ministry of
Agriculture said Thursday parliament must still approve the
measure before it takes effect.

Human Rights Watch says it has proof Israeli soldiers
deliberately destroyed Palestinian homes and buildings
during the 2008-09 assault on Gaza.
HRW, in its 116-page report, 'I Lost Everything': Israel's
Unlawful Destruction of Property in the Gaza Conflict, says
it has documented 12 separate cases of such during the 22-
day "Operation Cast Lead".
The report, released Thursday, said there is evidence that
Israeli forces destroyed civilian property, including homes,
factories, farms, and greenhouses, in areas under their
control although there was no fighting in that area or the
fighting had stopped.

Libyan Leader Muammar Qaddafi's son leveled criticism
against Germany's military aid to Israel, accusing the
European power of complicity in war crimes committed in
Gaza.
In a letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel, Muammar Qaddafi's
eldest son, Saif al-Islam, urged the German leader to
clarify her position on Germany's alleged free military aid
to Israel.
Qaddafi charged Berlin with spending German tax-payers'
money to provide miscellaneous weaponry for Israel, which he
condemned as "the greatest violator of human rights in the
world."

The United Nations has joined some Western countries in
laying the groundwork for bringing the Taliban into the
Afghan government by suggesting the removal of at least some
of their senior leaders from the list of terrorists.
UN special envoy to Afghanistan Kai Eide on Sunday offered
two suggestions for Afghan and American officials to open
the way to face-to-face talks between Afghan officials and
Taliban leaders.
Eide urged Afghan officials to seek the removal of Taliban
leaders from the UN list of terrorists. He also implored the
American military to speed its review of the 750 detainees
in its military prisons in Afghanistan.
"If you want relevant results, then you have to talk to the
relevant person in authority," Eide said, according to the
New York Times. "I think the time has come to do it."

Iraqi politician Ahmed Chalabi
http://www.presstv.ir/photo/20100128/beglari20100128030400890.jpg
A senior Iraqi official has warned that Washington supports
the return of former Ba'ath party members to power in a bid
to bolster security arrangements with Israel.
Iraq's Justice and Accountability CommissionHead, Ahmed
Chalabi told Press TV that the US tries to involve Iraq in
its political security order in the region through the
return of Ba'athists to power.
According to the official, Washington has developed a
security order in the Middle East which involves some Arab
states and Israel and the US will consider Iraq as a threat
if it does not participate in this order.
Chalabi said Baghdad's decision to ban pro-Ba'ath candidates
from participating in the country's upcoming general
elections has been part of Iraq's constitution.

It takes normally between 20-30 mins per day depending on one's reading
speed.
It will be found many unanswered questions which may have seemed puzzling
and "Hard to be understood" are slowly and precisely answered as the Bible
is methodically read through day after day.
Here is a helpful link for anyone who either does not have a Bible to
hand, or might prefer reading from their computer, or might want to compare
different translations, or even read non-English versions:
