Christ the Desire of All Nations
by John Flavel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"And the desire of all nations shall come." Haggai 2:7.

The first chapter of Haggai is mainly spent in reproving the
negligence of the Jews, who, being discouraged from time to time, had
delayed the rebuilding of the temple. In the meantime they employed
their...

From a late June issue of the Church Times -- my how familiar it
sounds to those of us in TEC:

The House of Bishops may not like to hear it, but the plain and sad
fact is that, in their treatment of dissenters since 1993 and their
operation of the current statutory and synodical provisions for
dissenters, too many bishops have shown that they are not to be
trusted. The Pilling report (GS 1650) wrote tellingly (chapter 4)
about the “the element of unfair discrimination” to which “Traditional
Catholics” and “Conservative Evangelical Clergy” are subject, and
about the importance of the C of E’s “commitment to fairness”.

Regarding the observations put forward by the Windsor Continuation
Group, he said they were covering ground the Primates had already
looked at.

“Since the Primates haven’t been able to move it along some of us
don’t have much hope it will take us anywhere.

“Dar-es-Salaam put forward the idea of a pastoral council and the
House of Bishops in the States didn’t want it. They want their
autonomy.

“The North Americans have said they’re not going to move back and
those who have left their national churches are unlikely to go back.

“Unless we talk about the real reasons why we are divided there’s
little hope of putting it back together again.”

Hey, what's a Lambeth Conference without a little liberal racism? MCJ blog

Hey, what's a Lambeth Conference without a little liberal racism?

The Rt Rev Catherine Roskam, Suffragan Bishop of New York, said
domestic violence is deemed acceptable in some parts of the world and
that "even the most devout Christians" are guilty of it.

She said some of the 670 Anglican bishops gathered in Canterbury for
the once-a-decade Lambeth Conference probably beat their wives, and
added that it is difficult to discuss it with them because they do not
believe it is wrong.

Her comments have been condemned as outrageous and untrue, and a
further example of the condescending attitude of western Anglicans to
those in developing countries.

In the article in the Lambeth Witness, a newsletter produced daily
during the meeting by the gay campaign group Inclusive Church Network,
Bishop Roskam said: "We have 700 men here.

"Do you think any of them beat their wives? Chances are they do. The
most devout Christians beat their wives.

"Culturally, many of our bishops come from places where it is
culturally accepted to beat your wife. In that regard, it makes the
conversation quite difficult."

OREMUS for Friday, August 1, 2008

O Lord, open our lips.
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Blessed are you, O God,
you are our greatest treasure
and the source of our greatest joy:
Your Spirit continues to form us in the likeness of Christ,
that we may know the freedom of your children
and the assurance that nothing in creation
can separate us from your love,
most fully known in Jesus Christ our Lord.
For these and all your mercies, we praise you:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:
Blessed be God for ever!

An opening canticle may be sung.

Preparing for 2012 & Dealing with Negativity

Preparing for 2012:
Dealing with and Defeating Negativity by Roy Francis Stewart

In order to deal with Negativity, you need to understand how the
universe works and how you work within this Universe. Negativity is
the polarity of the Positive, in balance and what makes up this 3rd
dimension. Without Negativity, you would have NO 3rd Dimension. It
wouldn't exist and thus, you wouldn't exist in it.

The confusion is what and who we are really AND the fact that most of
us don't know who and what we are and are thrust into this world and
have no memory of any other experience, are ill equipped and are
exposed only to the negativity we see. We think that this is all there
is. Then we get all depressed, thinking that I have to escape or I
spiral down and turn to over indulgence in drinking, drugs, whatever
which of course, draws us down deeper into the negativity and thus
some experience only these hell type worlds, then get comfortable with
them, adjust to them and are perhaps live in them not unlike the
living dead. Obviously anyone around you whether it be an individual
or the news, or a war or countless other negative things drags you
down to this side of the polarity.

The Church cannot heal this crisis of betrayal

Those who violate biblical teaching must show repentance and regret
before we can share communion with them

Henry Luke Orombi, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda
London Times
August 1, 2008

I love the Lord Jesus Christ, and I love the Anglican Communion. So, why
did the bishops of the Church of Uganda and I decide not to attend the
present Lambeth Conference? Because we love the Lord Jesus Christ and
because we love the Anglican Communion.

Testament, and ALL of the New.
May God bless your continued effort and dedication.

2 Samuel l 7
Jeremiah 21
Romans 7-8

For those who want to go directly to the source of this study guide,
it can be found at http://www.antipas.org/readings/readings.html

It takes normally between 20-30 mins per day depending on one's reading
speed.
It will be found many unanswered questions which may have seemed puzzling
and "Hard to be understood" are slowly and precisely answered as the Bible
is methodically read through day after day.

Here is a helpful link for anyone who either does not have a Bible to
hand, or might prefer reading from their computer, or might want to compare
different translations, or even read non-English versions:

Catholic-Anglican relations reach new low over women bishops

Catholic-Anglican relations reach new low over women bishops

Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent
London Times
July 31, 2008

The Roman Catholic Church has finally ended all hope that Anglican
priestly orders will ever be recognised as valid.

In an address to the Lambeth Conference of 670 Anglican bishops from
around the world, the cardinal who heads the Council for Christian Unity
said the dialogue between Anglicans and Catholics would be irrevocably
"changed" as a result of the ordination of women and the recent vote to
go ahead with consecrating women bishops.

Cardinal Walter Kasper also reiterated the Vatican's stance that
homosexuality is a "disordered" condition.

In a well-attended closed session at the conference at the University of
Kent University, Canterbury, Cardinal Kasper said relations between the
two churches are now deeply compromised. He urged bishops to consider
their shared inheritance, which he said was "worthy of being consulted
and protected."

Anglicans likely to sidestep decision on gays

Opposing factions in the Canadian church quick to dismiss Archbishop's
proposal

MICHAEL VALPY
From Thursday's Globe and Mail
July 31, 2008 at 4:07 AM EDT

Although today is billed as global Anglicanism's high-noon shootout over
homosexuality, the issue likely will get sidestepped again, exasperating
both conservative and liberal Canadians who belong to the world's
third-largest Christian church and are fed up with the dispute.

More than 600 Anglican bishops assembled for the decennial Lambeth
Conference in the ancient English cathedral city of Canterbury are to
meet in indabas - a Zulu word for "purposeful gatherings" - to talk all
day about homosexuality, which has threatened the church with imminent
schism over the past five years.

But they are to pass no resolutions, make no declarations.
