This is a conclusion derived from the faulty logic of Calvin,
and those who follow Him, not what the Bible actually teaches.
Fact is, even the elect are lost until such time as God puts
the benefits of Christ's atonement in their account, through
faith in the gospel of His death and resurrection. It was not
enough that the blood of the Passover Lamb be slain. No, it
also had to be painted on the doorpost of a house, before the
angel of death would pass over. In the same way, the
non-elect perish, not because the value of Christ's atonement,
and the offense of sin is finite, but because the benefits of
His unlimited payment was never applied to the doorpost of
their soul, through faith.

Christ died for our sins, and God raised Him from the dead.
Rely on this work alone to escape hell and receive eternal
life (Jn. 3:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-3; Eph. 2:8-10; 2 Thess. 1:8-9).

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself
up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every
thought to make it obedient to Christ. †2 Corinthians 10:5
