  Got some stuff gone!

I haven't been around much but I have been productive! My living room is
able to be lived in again and my kitchen is almost completely overhauled.

I have to admit, I did have a helping factor. My two oldest are moving out
in less than a month and while there are boxes of packed up stuff sitting in
my kitchen/dining room there is light at the end of the tunnel. I managed to
unload a bunch of unused stuff on them and the good part is, it is all stuff
they need (read that as Mom had way too many duplicates of things).

I am sitting here at the moment watching a huge nasty storm move in so it is
time to shut down the electronics.

Just wanted to share and let folks know I am still around and still battling
the clutter bug.

changing habits to avoid clutter buildup

I do firmly believe now more than ever that tackling stuff as soon as you
can rather than delaying throughout the course of the day is a KEY point in
controlling clutter brainlessly w/o pressure buildup. Not bringing items in
not needed is a great help as is of course eliminating items you do not need
that are taking up cubic feet.

Taking out an hour each morning/evening/broken throughout the day and
dedicating it to getting things accomplished will create such a release
throughout the day. ( if one has time to do this)

I am closely observing now more than ever someone I know who is not just
in a massive clutter state...but a major squalor state as well ... we will
call this person X.....

X's idea of cleaning is procrastinating all day and at nite cramming
everything in and getting nothing else done except a load or 2 of laundry
and washing herself etc...no housework EVER seems to get done in this
place of loosely termed "habitation" and it has built up to a terrible
degree of ooc disaster/filth-- in fact this was the case 6 years ago a few
months after X moved in..last place should have been condemned. That is
another nightmare I dont want to relive-- new place was cute and clean from
last tenants...

The extreme behavior in X has leads this once cute home to be so out of
control-- I am not out of line when I say this... seems that there is no
simple picking up EVER and I can say this bc I have...

Recycle Spare/Unusable Clothes Buttons and yarn scraps

Hi Fellow "Tree Huggers",
Over the years I've asked my friends to donate their old holiday
cards
(the ones they usually toss in the garbage after the holiday). I use
them in my classroom with my first grade students. We keep the image
and toss the portions written on in the recycle bin. Lots of folks
responded and I am thankful.

Now I have another idea. I would like to know if anyone would like
to donate spare clothes buttons and unused yarn scraps.
These items are fun and safe for kids to work with. In the past we
have used them to make frames, planters, holiday decoration. I've
even incorporated them in my science and math lessons. So if you
have
a bunch of stuff gathering dust in a box, please let use help you put
it to good use. All sizes and shapes are welcomed.
If you are interested in making a donation, please contact me at:
Working together we can begin to teach kids that recycle in fun and
good for our planet.
