Takes me back to my high school days. We had an engineering contest to
design a container that would protect an egg from breaking when
dropped from the top of a 3-story building. We had a limited number of
materials we were allowed to use and, from those whose eggs survived
the fall, the containers were weighed and the lightest would win.
I made a 10 cm dodecahedron out of poster board, as many edges folded
as possible, stuffed it with shredded plastic bags, with the egg in
the center.
It worked beautifully, but, alas, was about half a gram heavier than
the winner, a toilet paper tube with popsicle sticks glued through at
opposite ends of the egg. I still don't know why it worked.
