'Catastrophe' at U.S. High Schools

Author: English-Elephant

Hi,

Reported today on Fox and others :

High School Graduation Rates Plummet Below 50 Percent in Some U.S.
Cities

"When more than 1 million students a year drop out of high school,
it's more than a problem, it's a catastrophe," said former Secretary
of State Colin Powell, founding chair of the alliance.

Does anyone know how much is spent on Education each year in the USA?
In 2000 it was $324 Billion but it must have gone up since then.

I have to be honest I have no idea what Bush's education policies
were, but whatever it was, it went the same way as his abstenance only
programs, which didnt work either as now 1 in 4 American girls have an
STD.

Thanks
