Right-wing former NC Sen. Jesse Helms died at age 86. Yesterday Tom
Harmon, aka Bozo the Clown Passed away. Since these things always
happen in 3s, I wonder which clown is the next to go.
Seriously though, even though I hated everything Jesse Helms stood for,
I respect that he was a committed ideologue. He fought for his beliefs
24/7. I wish there were Democratic equivalents to Helms in Congress.

Just having a "liberal voting record" is not what I want, and it's
deceptive anyway. Trying to categorize all votes as liberal or
conservative is not correct. Lots of legislation is so compromised and
watered down by the time it gets to a vote, especially if it is in the
Senate, that it may not be a liberal or conservative bill in the first
place. Thus voting for or against it does not make one liberal or
conservative. It is about trying to get left-liberal legislation ...
