Obama is toast - Cynthia's hat is in the ring ! ! ! (from CNN)

McKinney running for president as Green candidate

(CNN) -- The liberal environmentalist Green Party nominated former
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney as its presidential candidate
Saturday. McKinney, 53, held off three rivals to win the party's
nomination during its convention in Chicago, Illinois. She picked
journalist and activist Rosa Clemente as her running mate.

Green Party spokeswoman Scott McLarty acknowledged McKinney was a
"long shot" for the White House, but said, "Every vote that she gets
helps the Green Party."

"The United States needs an alternative party," McLarty said. "The
narrow two-party system we have right now has not served us very
well."

McKinney represented a suburban district of Atlanta, Georgia, as a
Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives for six terms -- five
consecutively.

The Inability of Our Leaders to Please (or Lead?) Us

As simple as we like to make things for comprehension and managerial
purposes, we all recognize the complexities associated with anything
that involves human emotion. Such is the case with respect to those
with whom we at least partially identify, and in whom we place our
hopes.

Politicians are unusual animals. The circumstances surrounding their
ascension to power virtually require that they be something less than
straightforward and transparent. They are the personification of the
Transformers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers_%%28toy_line
%%29) toy line. They simply have far too many different individuals and
groups, not to mention interests, to please, other than their own. As
the old 70’s song indicated, “Everybody wants me to be what they want
me to be.â€

Several months ago, this notion was brought home to me while
conducting one of my regular bookstore walk-throughs. Roughly two or
three times a week, I travel to the nearest Border’s or Barnes &
Noble...

"U.N. Zimbabwe Measure Vetoed by Russia, China"

By Colum Lynch
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, July 12, 2008; A09

UNITED NATIONS, July 11 -- Russia and China on Friday vetoed a U.S.-
sponsored Security Council resolution that would have imposed an arms
embargo on Zimbabwe and sanctioned President Robert Mugabe and his top
advisers for rigging the country's presidential elections.

Russian and Chinese envoys said U.N. sanctions amounted to unwarranted
interference in Zimbabwe's domestic affairs and would have threatened
preliminary talks between Mugabe's government and representatives of
his chief political rival, Morgan Tsvangirai, to resolve the country's
crisis.

IndyMac Seized by U.S. Regulators; Schumer Blamed for Failure By Ari
Levy and David Mildenberg

July 12 (Bloomberg) -- IndyMac Bancorp Inc. became the second- biggest
federally insured financial company to be seized by U.S. regulators
after a run by depositors left the California mortgage lender short on
cash.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. will run a successor institution,
IndyMac Federal Bank FSB, starting next week, the Office of Thrift
Supervision said in an e-mail yesterday. The regulator blamed U.S.
Senator Charles Schumer for creating a ``liquidity crisis'' after a
letter on June 26, in which he expressed concern that the bank may
fail.

Obama's private parts - ROFLMAO

Jackson's Obama comments almost went unnoticed - A Fox News technician
transcribing the tape overnight heard it, and it took off from there.
But Jackson's vulgar criticism of Obama came close to going
unreported.

Jackson made the comments to a guest before an interview on Sunday's
"Fox & Friends," whispering that Obama was "talking down to black
people" and that Jackson wanted to "cut his nuts off."

The comments went unnoticed in the control room, Bill Shine, Fox News'
senior vice president for programming, said Thursday.

The scathing remarks first came to the attention of an employee
working the overnight shift Sunday, who transcribed the tape as part
of training for the network's ongoing digital conversion. Otherwise,
"it potentially would have not been discovered," Shine said.
