You know what I don't understand, I classify myself as fiscally
conservative.

If I receive $600, then I would use it to pay off credit cards, or if
I did not have any credit card debts, put it in a high interest
account for a rainy day.

If you just go out and spend it, then the following month you will be
back in the same position with the same interest to pay on your loans
etc, it just doesn't make fiscal sense to me.
