Evolving US Military Agenda: Black Hole in Bush's Brain
by Peter Chamberlin

Global Research, April 27, 2008

Judging from the campaign rhetoric coming out of both camps, whoever wins the
Oval Office will be inclined to continue the failed military policies in Iraq
and to pursue a confrontation with Iran. Apparently, it does not matter to
either party what will follow those actions, or what these disastrous policies
have produced as they played-out in Iraq and Afghanistan. It does not matter
who gets elected, whether it is "bomb, bomb Iran" McCain, or
"obliterate/massive retaliation" Clinton, nothing will change.

American researcher Suzanne Maloney spells out the results of the
"successfully" surging American war on Iraq:

"Of the many American illusions and delusions surrounding
this war, the Administration's calculations with respect to Iran
were among the most wildly off base. Instead of generating...

WAR IS A RACKET

WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most
vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one
in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

Shell profits up 25 pct on record high oil prices

April 29, 2008

LONDON (AFP) --- Anglo-Dutch energy giant Royal Dutch Shell said Tuesday
that first-quarter net profits leapt 25 percent to 4.58 billion pounds
because of record-breaking crude oil prices.

Crude oil prices smashed record after record in the first quarter and
hit an all-time high of almost 120 dollars per barrel on Monday on the
back of a British refinery strike and simmering tensions in key producer
Nigeria.

A Litany of Horrors: America's University of Imperialism
By Chalmers Johnson

This essay is a review of Soldiers of Reason: The RAND Corporation and
the Rise of the American Empire by Alex Abella (Harcourt, 400 pp., $27)

The RAND Corporation of Santa Monica, California, was set up
immediately after World War II by the U.S. Army Air Corps (soon to become the
U.S. Air Force). The Air Force generals who had the idea were trying to
perpetuate the wartime relationship that had developed between the scientific
and intellectual communities and the American military, as exemplified by the
Manhattan Project to develop and build the atomic bomb.

Suit Accuses Cosmetic Makers of Organic Ruse
By Ilana DeBare
The San Francisco Chronicle

Tuesday 29 April 2008

A long-simmering dispute over the definition of organic personal care
products boiled over into court Monday, when Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps filed a
lawsuit charging many of its competitors with deceptively marketing their
soaps and lotions.

The lawsuit - filed in San Francisco Superior Court - targeted many
widely known cosmetic manufacturers including Estee Lauder, Kiss My Face, Hain
Celestial and Stella McCartney America. It also named smaller firms such as
Mill Valley-based Juice Beauty.

In the suit, Dr. Bronner's accused the firms of false advertising by
labeling products "organic" that contain relatively little organic material,
that contain synthetic chemicals, or that use petrochemicals in processing.

Democracy on the March: another victory against a Bush Regime ally in
the Kingdom of Nepal

The victory is overwhelming against the few supporters of the God-King
(He took over god/king position when the crown prince nephew murdered
his brother's entire family with multiple machine gun discharge
"accidents". He's so clumsy!).

It is not just that the Communist Party of Nepal has won the majority of
seats, the second place has gone to a moderate reform party followed in
third place by...the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist).

Out of the 26 parties vying for 240 seats in government, almost all will
have some representation in the new government, even if it is the Chure
Bhawar Rastriya Ekata Party Nepal with 0.2%%, which gets them one seat.

How come in America, I have no one from my party (0.61%%) in Congress? We
just have Democrats and Republicans with a Democrat-Republican corporate

SUBSTITUTES CALLED TOO RISKY
FDA Faulted for Approving Studies of Artificial Blood

By Rob Stein
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, April 29, 2008; Page A02

A new analysis concludes that the Food and Drug Administration approved
experiments with artificial blood substitutes even after studies showed that
the controversial products posed a clear risk of causing heart attacks and
death.

The review of combined data from more than 3,711 patients who participated in
16 studies testing five different types of artificial blood, released
yesterday, found that the products nearly tripled the risk of heart attacks
and boosted the chances of dying by 30 percent.

Based on the findings, the researchers questioned why the FDA allowed
additional testing of the products to go forward and why the agency is
considering letting yet another study proceed.
