Global warming has been in the scientific literature longer than Gore has

Excellent statistical evidence for a warming globe was available as early

Barroso: Islam is part of Europe
BRUSSELS , May 5: The President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, underlined
here Monday that Islam is part and parcel of Europe and he also condemned the concept of clash
of civilisations.
"Islam today is part of Europe. It is important to understand this. One should not see Islam as
outside Europe. We already have an important presence of Islam and Muslims among our citizens,"
Barroso told a press conference this afternoon after an informal dialogue between EU leaders
and around twenty high-level representatives of Christianity, Judaism and Islam in Europe.
"We can be a European citizen being a Christian, being Jewish or Muslim or having no religion,"
he noted.
On his part, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dr.Mustafa Ceric, said Islam is indeed part
of Europe but unfortunately Turkey is not yet part of Europe.
"Following this logic Europe has to prove that Islam is part of Europe by not delaying the
acceptance of Turkey to the EU," Ceric told the joint press conference.
Many people in Turkey and the Muslim world believe that Turkey will not be accepted as an EU
member because it is a Muslim country.
Mondays meeting was co-chaired by European Commission President Barroso, Slovenian Prime
Minister and current President of the European Council, Janez Jansa, and the President of the
European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pottering.

A human rights crime in Gaza
President Jimmy Carter
(Illustration:) “Will You Sing Me A Lullaby?â€
Daily News Egypt
The world is witnessing a terrible human rights crime in Gaza, where a million and a half human
beings are being imprisoned with almost no access to the outside world by sea, air, or land. An
entire population is being brutally punished.
This gross mistreatment of the Palestinians in Gaza was escalated dramatically by Israel, with
United States backing, after political candidates representing Hamas won a majority of seats in
the Palestinian Authority parliament in 2006. The election was unanimously judged to be honest
and fair by all international observers.
Israel and the US refused to accept the right of Palestinians to form a unity government with
Hamas and Fatah and now, after internal strife, Hamas alone controls Gaza. Forty-one of the 43
victorious Hamas candidates who lived in the West Bank are now imprisoned by Israel, plus an
additional ten who assumed positions in the short-lived coalition cabinet.
Regardless of one’s choice in the partisan struggle between Fatah and Hamas within occupied
Palestine, we must remember that economic sanctions and restrictions in delivering water, food,
electricity, and fuel are causing extreme hardship among the innocent people in Gaza, about one
million of whom are refugees.

Ethanol increases air pollution in addition to raising food prices!
"Politics fueling rising food prices"
http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/322-05082008-1530897.html
"Ethanol increases two of the most dangerous air pollutants — volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 4 to 7 percent
over gasoline, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Together, VOC and NOx cause thousands of premature deaths each year,
the EPA said."
----------------------
From my own webpage on biofuels at http://home.att.net/~meditation/bio-fuel-hoax.html
"Biofuel advocates falsely claim that ethanol is a "clean fuel" that
will reduce air pollution. Ethanol blended fuels burn cleaner on a
per gallon basis, but not on a miles traveled basis, because ethanol
contains 33%% less energy than gasoline. Ethanol blended fuels
actually emit more CO2 per miles driven than ordinary gasoline in
addition to emitting far more CO2 during their manufacture."

Tribune Covers For Obama's Terrorist Friends
By Cliff Kincaid
May 8, 2008
The Chicago Tribune, which once employed Barack Obama campaign strategist
David Axelrod, is refusing to publish the truth about a Weather Underground
terrorist bombing that killed a policeman. The paper apparently does not want
to tarnish the image of Obama friends Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who
were allegedly part of or had direct knowledge of the bombing plot that also
injured several other police officers. The Tribune considers Ayers an
education expert and has published various articles by him.
Please help Accuracy in Media expose the Tribune's cover-up.
I sent a copy of the following email message to Tribune reporter Liam Ford on
April 27. He was the co-author of an article that consisted of a series of
questions and answers about Ayers, the communist terrorist who became a friend
of Obama's and helped launch Obama's political career. My message said:
"Liam Ford and Mark Jacob:

Once-secret memos question Clinton's honesty
Washington Times
A decade before Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton admitted fudging the truth during
the presidential campaign, federal prosecutors quietly assembled hundreds of
pages of evidence suggesting she concealed information and misled a federal
grand jury about her work for a failing Arkansas savings and loan at the heart
of the Whitewater probe, according to once-secret documents that detail the
internal debates over whether she should have faced criminal charges.
Ordinarily, such files containing grand jury evidence and prosecutors'
deliberations are never made public. But the estate of Sam Dash, a lifelong
Democrat who served as the ethics adviser to Whitewater Independent Counsel
Kenneth W. Starr, donated his documents from the infamous 1990s investigation
to the Library of Congress after his 2004 death, unwittingly injecting into
the public domain much of the testimony and evidence gathered against Mrs.
Clinton from former law partners, White House aides and other witnesses.

Rev. Al Sharpton, Others Arrested at Rallies to Protest 50-Shot Slaying
By KEN THOMAS
Associated Press
May 8, 2008
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Republicans on Wednesday questioned the speedy
confirmation process for Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Helene White, who was
chosen by President Bush last month as part of a compromise to address several
judicial vacancies.
Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter, the Senate Judiciary Committee's top
Republican, said holding a hearing only weeks after White's nomination ''does
not conform with the practices of the committee and is an unusual rush to
judgment.''
