WO men have been arrested in connection with the alleged abduction and
rape of a 12-year-old girl.
The youngster is said to have been attacked in a car parked in Barden
Road, Accrington, at around 6.30am on Saturday morning.
Police said the girl, who is from the Blackburn area, is being helped
through her ordeal by officers from the Engage team, which works with
children and teenagers who have been groomed for sexual exploitation.
Officers became involved after a young friend of the girl alerted them
to the situation.
On Monday a 27-year-old man from the Accrington area was arrested on
suspicion of child abduction and rape, while a 24-year-old man, also
from Accrington, was arrested on suspicion of child abduction.
The Engage team was set up early this year and includes members from
the police, council, the Blackburn with Darwen Safeguarding Children
Board and other young people's organisations.
Engage is a successor to the police campaign, Operation Engage, which
targeted teenagers who were being groomed into sexual exploitation.

Birmingham wishes it could ditch Brummie accent
It has long been the butt of jokes from people in some parts of the
country - but now even the people of Birmingham say that they want to
disown the Brummie accent.

As a resolute opponent of censorship I would rather this ruling had not
occurred. However, I doubt whether it will materially alter the previous
legal situation because the public interest test will still apply.
The problem with the Mosley case is that there was no public interest.
The man is not a politician, occupies no public position and has
committed no criminal offence. The fact that the NoW were completely
unable to make any case for a Nazi theme makes the behaviour of the
paper more contemptible, but does not really affect this judgement
because even if he had been engaged in a scenario with a Nazi theme
there would still have been no public interest, unless you believe that
the sins of the father attach to the son. Those who want to posture
about such things should reflect on the Prince Harry incident when he
turned up at a fancy dress party dressed as a Nazi officer, behaviour
which was allowed to pass very quickly.
Why was the NoW case so feeble? Well, it looks from the media reports
that they put all their eggs in the witness E basket and when she failed
to testify the game was up.

: The roots of the long-term unemployed army and the legion of
school-leavers classified as NEETS lies in the Thatcher era, which not
only destroyed the natural employments of the workingclass and created
structural unemployment. To cover this disaster, the Tories attempted
to disguise the massive employment by allowing sickness benefit to
balloon
Thatcher set the stage for Major, Blair and Brown to follow suit and
expand on the disastrous policies she had initiated such as
privatisation of strategic industries, the export of jobs and the
adoption of an open door immigration policy. Much of this disastrous set
of policies was made possible by her embrace of the Single European Act.
Attempts to portray any of our present economic and social woes as the
consequence of socialism is a nonsense. We had more or less full
employment from 1945 until 1975, by which time the oil price shock had
filtered through to the economy in general. Even then, by 1979 there
were only a few more than 1 million unemployed and that was an honest
figure because all the ways of hiding unemployment such as long term
sickness benefit, training schemes and extended education had not been
used.

South Africa's South Africans were clearly too good for England's
South Africans.

Some hundred thousands people saw it....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOg4fAX8jc4
Were they all having an illusion ?
If you manage to love those who want to harm you, then you will gain
something beyond any imagination.
Anything opposing to the above is at least suspicious (don't you agree
with that, deep in your soul?)
Keep you eyes open, for the things to come... and do not be afraid,
because your soul is untouchable.
Do not care about your mortal body. After all, it is just a matter of
time to disintegrate.
No fear, my sisters and brothers.

Ever since MacMillan made his fatuous remark "You've never had it so
good" British governments have peddled the lie that people are generally
getting wealthier and wealthier. To this lie was added the lie of the
"trickle down" effect to justify the immoral and reckless selfishness of
Thatcherism.
The truth is that most people today are worse off in the most
fundamental way, namely, they cannot afford to marry and bring up a
family on a single income. 50 years ago the ordinary man could raise a
family on his income alone.
As for trickle down, it simply hasn't happened. Most people have no
significant savings. Most people do not own their property outright.
Those not on the property ladder already have no chance of getting on it
if they are earning the average wage. As the first story shows,
millions are living on very low incomes indeed. To the pensioners can be
added those on below average wages who do not have recourse to tax
credits and those surviving on benefits. Probably a third of the
population live below the poverty line and many others have a pretty
strapped existence.
