gee i am hoping that i am not bursting any ones urban myths on
americas rugged individualism, and self reliance.
but it seems the unemployed got lots of help as they headed west, and
even got jobs finishing the highway that they travelled courtesy of the
new deal.
otherwise many western states got huge subsidies, far more than the
midwestern states, and the eastern states.
so maybe they did end up ok after all of that help.

I put in my time living in a sub-let 8' cube that used to be
a wardrobe so that I could afford to buy my 'house'. I'm
relatively well off now because I did the things that were
necessary to get here, and more to the point, DIDN'T do
many of the things that sabotage the effort.
If you've got the energy to whine about your problems,
you're not putting enough effort into solving them.
