I made the mistake of listening to NPR coverage of the election speeches.
When Romney had finished speaking, the NPR info babe started to remakr how
there was the lowest level of diverstiy in the audience of the Republican
convention, in 40 years. The fewest African Americans at the delegation in
40 years. Well, gee, I don't really give a care what color the faces are out
there, I watn to know if the candidate will do what he promises. Who really
gives a hoot if there are som epercent of this or that kind of people? I
don't. Just shows where their brains are. Fuck diversity. I want excellence,
and intgrity.

DENVER--Hillary Clinton delivered one hell of a good speech last night. Those
are words we never expected to write.

Her speech was worth going to see. It was a forceful, if belated, concession.
The crowd went wild as she declared herself "a proud supporter of Barack
Obama." Delegates waved white "Hillary" signs everywhere in the hall, even in
Obama-friendly delegations. After rehearsing a list of people she had met on
the campaign trail--people who were suffering terribly in George Bush's
America--she got to the heart of the matter:

I want you--I want you to ask yourselves, were you in this
campaign just for me, or were you in it for that young Marine
and others like him? Were you in it for that mom struggling
with cancer while raising her kids? Were you in it for that
young boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage? Were you
in it for all the people in this country who feel invisible?

Though come to think of it, maybe we should turn the question around. Why were
YOU in it, Mrs. Clinton?

This question loomed larger as her speech reached its crescendo:

There seems to be a strong anti Clinton wing among the Dem
leadership. Why else would they throw their lot in with such an
unqualified and inexperienced rookie. Is it jealousty or better
career opportunities with the rookie? And is the lib media
congradulating themselves for playing such their prominent role in the
defeat of 'the Clintons'. Air America radio was especially over the
top, They totally accepted the Obama campaign narrative, that
Clinton"s were dirty campaigners and made racist comments. and also
ascribed the most devious motives to anything Hillary or Bill said or
did. They just repeated what the Obama's youthful enthusists said,
like what a wonderful speech, He's the One, Hillary is bitch or a
witch. Really they did, i,e, Randi Rhodes and others.

If perchance Hillary Clinton watched that Serbian Olympics swimmer lose to
golden boy Michael Phelps by a margin almost too small to measure, you can
guess what she was thinking. Though it's been weeks since the political touch
pads declared Barack Obama the official winner, surely the Senator Clinton who
addresses the Denver convention tonight still cannot believe this has
happened.

Her astonishment is justified. Though she lost the delegate battle on the
February 5 Super Tuesday primary, she won big in California and New Jersey. A
month later she won the crucial battleground state of Ohio by 10 and Texas by
4. She took Pennsylvania by 10. West Virginia, historic ground for Democrats,
was a Hillary rout.

Her support, especially in such blue-collar redoubts as Youngstown and
southern Ohio, was as enthusiastic as any we have witnessed in modern
politics. Lower-middle-class women especially saw her as a pathbreaker,
refuting the notion that her symbolic candidacy was limited to upscale
professional women. She earned 18 million votes. Joe Biden won something like
9,000. She was on a roll by June, but the Hillary surge began too late. She
lost by the brutal math of her party's own making.

She only needed a sizeable majority of the super delegates to decide
she would give the Dems the best chance to in Nov. and that Obama's
narrow lead was due to exploiting the caucus system and even with the
lib media acting as his campaign surrogates he couldn't win the
battleground states. Kennedy had no such chance in '80, but just as a
spoiler, he took it to the bitter end against an incumbent president.
Hillary yielding to Obama and party pressure bowed out to an
inexperienced rookie. Did the threat of Obama.s black supporters led
by their Reverents to riot cinch the nomination for Obama? Obama
supporters were constanting clamoring for Hillary to cede an easy
victory for Obama so he could take it to McCain. She did and he went
off on his own taking it to McCain and lost 20 points in the...

The Clintons would make sooooooooo much money if they got their own
FOX reality show

That's what they essentially are anyways, that's the fascination,
their crazy marriage, and power, ambition,, sex addiction, hell it's
got it all
