What about Teddy Roosevelt in 1908? Calvin Coolidge in 1932?
Harry Truman in 1952? Lyndon Johnson in 1968?

Uh-oh. I forgot. 1968 never happened.

Clinton says if it helps Dems, she's open to veep

The Associated Press reports that Mrs. Clinton "has told congressional
colleagues she would be open to becoming Barack Obama's vice presidential
nominee," and Maureen Dowd speculates on her motives:

Clintonologists know that Hillary is up to something, but
they aren't sure what. Theory No. 1 is that it's the Cassandra
"I told you so" gambit: She believes intensely that he's too
black, too weak and too elitist--with all his salmon and organic
tea and steamed broccoli--to beat her pal John McCain. But she
has to pretend she'll do "whatever it takes," even accept the
vice presidency, a job she's already had and doesn't want again,
so that nobody will blame her when he loses on Nov. 4. Then she
can power on to 2012.

Theory No. 2 is that it's a "Bad stuff happens" maneuver,
exemplified in her gaffe about the R.F.K. assassination,
that she figures that at least if she moves a few blocks
from Embassy Row to the Naval Observatory, she'll be a
heartbeat away from the job she's always wanted.

  How Many Americans?

Are there millions of Americans
are risking their lives, crossing the desert,
sailing the ocean in vulnerable vessels,
working as illegal aliens, in foreign countries?

Bill Clinton's tirade stunned some delegates

Author: Ubiquitous
Date: Apr 2, 2008 09:48

The Bill Clinton who met privately with California's superdelegates at last
weekend's state convention was a far cry from the congenial former president
who afterward publicly urged fellow Democrats to "chill out" over the race
between his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama.

In fact, before his speech Clinton had one of his famous meltdowns Sunday,
blasting away at former presidential contender Bill Richardson for having
endorsed Obama, the media and the entire nomination process.

"It was one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended," one
superdelegate said.

According to those at the meeting, Clinton - who flew in from Chicago with
bags under his eyes - was classic old Bill at first, charming and making
small talk with the 15 or so delegates who gathered in a room behind the
convention stage.

But as the group moved together for the perfunctory photo, Rachel Binah, a
former Richardson delegate who now supports Hillary Clinton, told Bill how
"sorry" she was to have heard former Clinton campaign manager James Carville
call Richardson a "Judas" for backing Obama.

It was as if someone pulled the pin from a grenade.

  Curb your political enthusiasm

A few weeks ago, I started to feel sorry for her. Oh
Christ, let her win already...Who cares...It's not worth
it. There's not that much difference between them. She
can have it. Anything to avoid watching her descend into
madness. So I switched. I started rooting for her. It
wasn't that hard. Compromise comes easy to me. I was on
board.

Only one person could blog like that. It's Larry David on Hillary.

Now, David isn't the most assiduous blogger. He has posted four times in three years.
But he makes up for it in quality.

His earlier note from a liberal insomniac [1] is a work of comic brilliance.

He has been lured back to his PC by Hillary's 3am ad. He doesn't like Hillary much:

There have been times in this campaign when she seemed
so unhinged that I worried she'd actually kill herself
if she lost. Every day, she reminds me more and more
of Adele H., who also had an obsession that drove her
insane.

And he doesn't want her on the phone:

The Clintons, a horror film that never ends

Author: Ubiquitous
Date: Mar 10, 2008 04:28

Andrew Sullivan

ItÂ’s alive! We thought it might be over but some of us never dared fully
believe it. Last week was like one of those moments in a horror movie when the
worst terror recedes, the screen goes blank and then reopens on green fields
or a loverÂ’s tender embrace. Drained but still naive audiences breathe a
collective sigh of relief. The plot twists have all been resolved; the threat
is gone; the quiet spreads. And then . . .

Put your own movie analogy in here. Glenn Close in the bathtub in Fatal
Attraction – whoosh! she’s back at your throat! – has often occurred to me
when covering the Clintons these many years. The Oscars host Jon Stewart
compares them to a Terminator: the kind that is splattered into a million tiny
droplets of vaporised metal . . . only to pool together spontaneously and
charge back at you unfazed.

The Clintons have always had a touch of the zombies about them: unkillable,
they move relentlessly forward, propelled by a bloodlust for Republicans or
uppity Democrats who dare to question their supremacy. You canÂ’t escape; you
canÂ’t hide; and you canÂ’t win. And these days, in the kinetic pace of the
YouTube campaign, they are like the new 28 Days Later zombies. They come at
you really quickly, like bats out of hell. Or Ohio, anyway.

Girl in Clinton's 'Red-Phone Ad' -- a Fierce Obama Supporter...

Author: Ubiquitous
Date: Mar 10, 2008 01:36

By ELISA HAHN / KING 5 News

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. – The political ad that sparked nationwide controversy
turns out to have a surprising local connection.

One of the actors in the Hillary Clinton ad was shocked to see herself,
especially because she's a fierce supporter of Barack Obama.

The so-called "red-phone ad" was played all over the country and helped turn
the tide for Hillary Clinton leading up to her big win in Ohio. The ad shows a
sleeping child and asks voters who they would want to see answering a 3 a.m.
emergency phone call to the White House.

But the young girl starring in the ad will actually be voting age next month
and says she's no fan of Hillary Clinton.

Thursday night, the Knowles family of Bonney Lake, Wash., watched the Jon
Stewart Show and saw the ad for the first time.

"I looked and saw a girl that looked like my sister and we rewound it and sure
enough it was my sister," said Brady Knowles.

The first girl in the ad is young Casey Knowles. It's stock footage from eight
years ago when she worked as a TV extra - footage owned now by Getty Images
and used by the Clinton campaign.

But they couldn't have picked a more unwilling star.
