"MPs reject EU treaty referendum
The government says a referendum is not needed on the treaty
MPs have rejected proposals to hold a UK-wide referendum on whether to
ratify the EU's Lisbon Treaty.
The House of Commons turned down the Conservative proposal by 311 votes
to 248 - a margin of 63.

The result means Parliament itself will decide whether to ratify the
treaty, signed by EU leaders last December."
--------------------
It is the Labour Party in parliament and government which carries major
responsibility for the above decision.

After their year-long, shameful tactic of vacillation and deception or
hidden motivation the ruling group in UK and Europe has presented us
with a fait accompli, a situation in which we have only bad choices.

Thank you, representatives.

Is EU money funding German political parties?

Author: A Monkey

There is something seriously wrong in the European Parliament.

The Galvin report which the newspapers reported two weeks ago is only the
beginning. The Parliament insists that the report should be secret, but
today Paul Van Buitenen published a 5-page precis available here:
http://www.j.dk/exp/images/bondes/04.03.2008_Summary_Audit_report_5
_pages_published.pdf

Today Jens Bonde, a Danish MEP, stated that Parliament had been given a
second secret report about fraud in payments given to the administrative
staff.

The latest claim is that EU money may have been diverted to German
political parties (http://englandexpects.blogspot.com/2008/03/now-
ombudsman-gets-involved.html). This is speculative at this stage, but I
would be surprised if the claim was pure invention.

Whatever the details, it is clear that the European Parliament has
serious problems with openness and honesty.

Why don't Chinese restaurants employ Brits?

Author: count zero
Date: Mar 5, 2008 11:38

Low-skilled Chinese restaurant workers and their employers have
demanded the right to break the newly introduced "skilled points"
immigration system introduced by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith last
week.

Chinese restaurants in London may have to close as a result of new
immigration laws, business owners have warned. At a London meeting
they said a Chinese labour shortage would be made worse by new rules
which limit the entry of low skilled workers from outside the EU.

Chinese Immigration Concern Committee spokesman Jabez Lam said the
situation could bring about a "meltdown of the Chinese economy" in
Britain.

The Chinese Immigration Concern Committee said this would prevent
numerous restaurant workers from China coming to the UK.

On Monday hundreds of Chinese business owners gathered at Friends
Meeting House in Euston, central London, to protest against the new
rules.

They said it would exacerbate labour shortages already experienced by
Chinese businesses in London.

I know most right-wingers here will be more than happy to invest in an
appeal for these men, but in my opinion they should have faced the
death sentence.

Osama bin London's Country Camps

By Robert Spencer
FrontPageMagazine.com | 3/4/2008

"Fifty-two. That's not even breakfast for me."

Those were the words of an Islamic preacher in Britain, Mohammed
Hamid, who liked to call himself "Osama bin London." Hamid was
referring to the fifty-two people murdered by Islamic jihadists in the
London bombings of July 2005, and was boasting that his own plots
would lead to, presumably, lunch and dinner -- far more deaths. One
police official, discussing surveillance tapes made of conversations
inside Hamid's home, said, "There was repeated talk of finding and
killing nonbelievers."
