I suppose it would take months/years to lease, prospect, and set-up
the platforms and equipment (which is allegedy in shortage).
They say a DECADE, which is ridiculous in itself.
I suppose the rest of the world is amazed by what we aren't exploiting-
drilling, and they should be.
I've seen rigs off the Louisiana coast for 50 years as i visited there
in 1956.
We fished for the plentiful trout near an oil derrick off Sidell, and
although i was much seasick, i caught a few.
I just heard on tv a guy say there is something like leased millions
of acres on the U.S. mainland that remain unexplored.
Also: Improvements in seismology and other geologic technologies ought
to be maximally utilized on-shore long before going to the Alaska,
Calif, Fla, etal coasts, though I perceive we must sooner or later.
Apparently it's now more lucrative to gamble-drill in the ocean, and i
am wondering if it's also another absurdist tax (oil depletion) scheme
like so many developmental projects are, such as the Boston tunnel
cost overrun boondogel.
I'm thinking of both ""tax schemes," writeoffs AND direct govt
contracted-subsidized projects.
Imho, it is totally outrageous that the security of the U.S. is about
oil dependency.
I'd like to impeach 'em all for allowing this to happen.
I'm half-serious about their folly.
Why not just give/trade the nation away to tyrants, because that's
exactly what is happening today.
The situation is so preposterous, a fiction writer would laugh at the
stupid plot.
That 1600 dollar toilet seat gold plated military budget is such a
waste if those expenditures are actuqally supposed to be about
"national security
--what a f'ing farce & tragedy we've constructed
for ourselves.
Everything is dinosaur shite.
