I agree. I wanted him to run in 2000.

I would vote a black (or yellow, or red) man (or woman) as long as I
consider him/her qualified, honorable and sharing the majority of my
views.

It does not matter the color of their skin, or the apparatus they use
to reproduce.

I will NOT vote for the current black man running, as he is not
qualified, is not honorable and does not share hardly any of my views.

Now I'll just sit back and wait for the liberals to start calling me a
'racist'.

Grendel.

Polite discourse appreciated. Especially among all the ad hominum.
Watched the 2nd part of PBS' FRONTLINE on the Iraq war last nite, and
see how Powel was shafted by the Neocons. The Neocon/fundy control
over the GOP has prevented Powel from entering the race.

But we need a new Chimera party anyway, with the best parts of the
current political spectrum, that is neither donkey nor elephant. Have
Powel found it. It mite could be done on the Internet.

What church does he belong to? if any?

I thought you already did. Wasn't Billy the first black president?
Or were you only referring to the color of his skin?

I am confused. Which half should one vote for. The black half or the
white half?

Why? What is there in his background that makes him anything but an
incompetent boob?

Is it the Eisenhower Syndrome? Overseeing one disaster after another
doesn't matter, evidently, as long as he somehow muddled through a
victory or two--mostly handed to him by his junior officers--this makes
him qualified for the presidency?

This is what he's qualified for:

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of
unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the
military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of
misplaced power exists and will persist."

The memory of Powell testifying about Iraq's nuclear program at the
United Nations dampens my enthusiasm for him. He let himself be made a
stooge. Granted, 99 people of 100 would have done the same. But hey,
we only need 1 President out of 300,000,000 Americans so my bar is
pretty high.

Too late. Powell ruined his chances by hitching his wagon to the Bush
incompetency train. He's probably still kicking himself for such a
bonehead move.

DC is not a nice place to work. Completely honorable men cant get
anything done. Just ask Jimmy Carter.

A lotta people forget that Powel was lied to by the intelligence
community just like the rest of us. He had to go by the data he had at
the time, a problem we still have. But the point remains. both Obama
and Powel are oreos, whereas Powel has the experience to know the
slimy bastards he will have to deal with to get anything done. and
based on what I know now, Powel would get my vote ahead of Obama or
any of the other well known white candidates.
