As in most intances, the biochemical mechanisms, such as qualia, are
often seen to be cause, and not a supporting mechanism to support the
spiritual growth of the individual.

We tell our children stories of the tooth fairy, the easter bunny etc,
not to mislead them, but to be able to communicate in a way that is
meaningfull and useful to them.

Adults are different only in the fact that not many see beyond such
stories as are common to all 'adult' societies. The shaman would tell
a story to the villages, just as the Dalai Lama, Pope and General
Motors do today. Then 'engage' the group consciousness to keep order
and conformity. The DL because he believes the Tibetans should stay in
the stone age, the Pope, because he sees hell if you dont reject
scientific proof, and GM? They and their like also create images
(stories) of what it means to be succesfull in life.Of course, the
qualia takes on the image, which has a trickle down effect.

One of the most significant mantras that came from the 'dream makers'
last century (South Pacific in this case)...was...

"You gotts have a dream,
"If you dont have a dream,
"then how you gonna have a dream come true"

We dream of externally created images of what constitutes reality, and
when disillusioned, start to dream of the greater reality.

Of course the vast majority leave this mortal coil with dreams
unfulfilled, but that doesnt stop the next crop

What makes the West tick (in the current cycle), is to follow the
"American dream" or equivalent. That is as it should be, and keeps the
culture viable, with the occasional collateral damage of course. One
mans dream, is , afterall, another mans nightmare.

The message wasnt "dream thyself",but "know thyself", and it is
impossible to know until you get beyond the external source of these
stories,qualia being one example.

This understanding is often taken to mean 'relinquish
materialism' (and often donate to perpetuate the story makers instead,
who just happen to come up with that interpretation in the first
place....but thats what sophists are supposed to do)

This message is dedicated to SirF ...:-) who tells a good story about
stories, or at least the biological support system therof.
