Why is there something instead of nothing?

Author: Iain

So, nothing requires no explanation. It is easy. It raises no
questions.

Something would require an explanation; it is hard. It raises many
questions.

There is, however, something that is just as easy as nothing.

It is called "everything".

One may as well ask: Why is the universe something instead of
everything?

People, well some, require explanations. Something, here the universe,
requires no explanation at all. It probably existed long before anything
capable of inventing explanations came along.

Not according to what you say above. Everything is all particular
somethings--many questions indeed.

Questioning nothing or everything has no focus. Meaningful answers
relate to particular 'somethings'.

me? i imagine that the "why?" is the consciousness in action.

so the "Why is there something instead of nothing?" ultimately boils
down to being about the question of consciousness.

I disagree. "Nothing" raises as many questions as "something".

The question “Why is there something rather than nothing?

If there was nothing, you’d still be complaining!

...the question is ill-formed because there could not have been
nothing.

Speculation :
Perhaps it would be helpful to recognize that
qualia are attributes in that consciousness and that
qualia are religious experiences (though they be illusions).
Thus we literally "worship" as we cognate.

Whether any higher dimensional
intelligent structure is "cognizant" of that "worship"
is up to that putative entity.
