I can always claim I can't unilaterally switch to natural gas because
the gummint hasn't mandated fill up stations in my neighborhood. I
can't afford a $4,000 Honda compressor to fill up at my household gas
line, etc.
But the railroads have their own pipelines, tank farms and tank cars
and could easily switch to natural gas on their own if they believed
natural gas was cheaper than diesel in the long run.
Are the railroads planning to just skip the nat. gas interim solution
and go straight to electrified trains?

And no one will buy that claim.

Someone in your town can tho. Thats a pretty small part of the cost of a gas station.

Yes, but they can also just pass on the higher cost of diesel to their customers too.

Some of them are.

Natural gas reserves are also limited, and today it is the major source for
home heating.

Because trains mostly work on government subsidy systems,
Which is why computers, lasers, robots, wind and solar energy grew
so quickly.

Because that is no solution, it might take a year to convert them all over.
You can't natural gas you way out of this crisis.

Its just not practical to convert diesel engines.

Corse you can. Use electricity from nukes to heat with and
use the CNG and LPG as a transport fuel in gasoline engines.

Maybe the railroads are just poorly managed.
It's not like they bother to maintain their track, rolling stock,
locomotovies or anything else.

No maybe about the fact that you have never ever had a clue.

Stop losing sleep over the "energy crisis," Cahill. It's just another
Chicken Little story.
Unless, of course, the gummint adopts it as its pretext-of-the-day for
accreting more power to itself, and commences to impose "solutions" which
derail the normal workings of the market. Then it could become a genuine
crisis.
