There is an interesting claim in the above. South Ossetia and
Abkhazia consider themselves independent of Georgia (and
Russia, by the way), though this independence has not been
recognized. So South Ossetia does not count as belonging to
Vlad the Impaler's Mother Russia, but rather to Georgia, or
to themselves as independent republics. This is not a case
of Georgia trying to take territory from Russia, but is actually
analogous to Russia's attempt to keep Chechnya under
its control. Vlad the Impaler considered genocide a justified
response to that republic's attempt to secede.
