What would be the reaction to a computer program that told you the truth?

Date: Sep 26, 2007 06:05

So, the year is 2012.

By then, not too much has changed in political terms. The environment
is a lot worse, but still bearable and able for the moment to support
7 billion people. Alien sightings have increased but not to the point
that they are invading our reality, yet. Just sort of skimming by so
gently that the ignorant masses still pretend they don't exist.

But something else has changed. Something deep and radical within the
human sphere.

Something that can never be undone, and was inevitable from the moment
that Earth's history began. Some that had only affected a few people
but by now, 2012, it is ready for hitting the masses.

You won't react like that when the time comes.

SNIP

Sceptics would abound that would deny that the AI program you propose
is all-knowing. Multiple religions have made the same claims
throughout history.

By simply denying that a 5th level of existence is in play! That the
"LOgicGod" is totally flawed by its own basic premise of being in a
state of ALL-KNOWING.
Like man, AI is restricted within its own limited bounderies. It is
incapable of digesting even one of its own bytes!

Erm... Who said a logicGod AI would be all knowing? I said that
nothing in it's databanks can be illogical, but that doesn't mean it
is all knowing...

The sooner, the better.
The only meaningful activity of any human is to
promote the "Singularity" (Sort of what's discussed here.)
As it is we are obsolete and very anachronistic. We may collapse
before our task is complete.
Once we have completed our task, we will quickly go extinct.

So our "meaningful activity" is to be obsolete, anachronistic and go
extinct.
Sounds to me that's mission accomplished!
What is this other "task" to which you refer?
