King Lear..

O, reason not the need:

our basest beggars Are in the poorest thing superfluous:

Allow not nature more than nature needs, Man's life's as cheap as
beast's:
=======================

Lear may have said (badly):

Reason not the need but the want.

Allow not nature more than nature needs, Man's life's as cheap as
beast's, 'Tis want that makes Man's life above the dirt.

I already have a shirt. I have heard people say "I want a hotdog". I
have also heard people say "you nee an education", or "you need to go
to room 420".

These needs are for the goal of survival. There are other goals.
